If I were a secondary character I would genre blind and would go about my life. My very boring life that consists of maybe talking to our heroes at some point and doing normal school things. Oh and getting held hostage with the rest of the town or school or whatever by the EVIL villain types.
Now if I were a fancy main character I would be end up being The Messiah and I would want to be normal. There would be much ANGST from me and some would declare me The Woobie. Others would say that I was a whiny bitch who should get over her lovey dovey bullshit and just kill her foes as it is much more efficient and I am mentally capable of that or something.
Someone may attempt and even succeed at breaking me for a while. I would then go on a villainous rampage (doesn't need to include raping, burning, and pillaging but can) until I was shown the light of...something and brought back to being our normal overly idealistic hero. During this break I would still be a whiny bitch. Some would find it an improvment. Others would complain that I was even more of a whiny bitch than before.
Or maybe I could be a minion....

How would you behave differently?
I would probably get a different attitude to whatever medium I was in, and would think about it somethimes, but otherwise I din't think it would effect me much.
