...
so my kids were stuck as dumb blondes because of a stupid rumor?!
T_T
Thank god I got the DS remake where there were three brides for three save files.
There's no word on the other part of the rumor, that Nera is near-useless in battle in the SNES version, but I'd imagine that's probably fake too.
well, its not like there was really much to better choice in terms of hair colors...
blonde, blue, brunette...
the three terrible B's...
ultimately even knowing the rumor is fake i'd still probably go bianca, and if not her i suppose deborah.
i cant imagine blue haired kids. it sounds weird.

It's probably hair dye. :P
but HOW?For what it's worth, the game still really pushes you to marry Bianca.
And here I didn't even know that Deborah wasn't an option in the original, and I still took the plunge with her the first time around.
Define "really."
Oh wow, this thread has come back to life. This calls for a celebration.
(Wait for 2:24 - it really goes off)

Bianca accompanying you on the quest to win Nera's hand in marriage, Nera herself going Shipper on Deck mode for you and Bianca after you win, after the time-skip your daughter has dailogue implying that your PC has feelings for Bianca if you didn't marry her, Pippin has dialogue that implies that PC gets jealous when he talks about making a move on Bianca. Not to mention, all the promotion material puts more focus on Bianca and the kids almost always have blonde hair, even on the cover of the game.
There was no right or wrong choice, but it all did come off as the developers assuming the player would pick Bianca.
Gotta hand it to the 8-bit era as far as music quality goes- They mostly had great melodies. Granted, a chunk of that comes down to system limitations, but hey!
I sure said that!Maybe now we can get an HD Remaster of DQVIII next?
Oh fuck yes.
but HOW?DQ VIII was my first DQ game. Loved it to bits.
I am dissapointed that they're not considering a EU release. Yet.
Moved handles because mehDon't hold your breath- It took Nintendo of America publishing IX to get that game outta Japan. SE has absolutely no faith in DQ internationally.
I sure said that!which is sad because i have more faith in DQ than i do in FF.
To be entirely fair to Square-Enix, the international release of Dragon Warrior NES was a disaster. They overproduced so many cartridges that legend holds Nintendo had to resort to packing them in with Nintendo Power to get rid of them all.
Later, the DS ports all failed to meet expectations, except V (undersupplied due to IV underperforming) and IX (aggressively marketed by Nintendo, still sold less overseas than in Japan, where it's the best selling entry ever).
By contrast, Final Fantasy until XIII could do no wrong. The reason VIII managed to do well at all? Packed in demo for XII.
And it's a damn shame, because I sure as hell like DQ better than most Final Fantasies.
I'm so happy to have a copy of V and VI :) I still have my Playstation and PS 2 if I want to get VII or VIII, but I have enough unfinished RP Gs as-is XD
The Protomen enhanced my life.Well, damn. Yet another reason to get a 3DS. *starts saving moneys*
but HOW?Better make that the New model. You know, the newer New 3DS. Heard it's an overall improvement and I need to swap my old one for it.
Moved handles because mehOh hey they finally gave the Japanese version all the extra goodies the international version had. :P
but HOW?
From what the Dragon's Den people figured out, the rumor began as essentially a prank by one of the first people to write an online FAQ for the game; this was before there was an official or even an unofficial translation yet, so everyone took it at face value, and once the patch came out nobody bothered to verify because everyone was too scared to marry Nera!
