Super Robot Wars OG: The Inspector

Just watched the first episode. The animation was pretty awesome - like, Gundam 00 awesome, but better since it doesn't rely on shit like REALITY. I loved the Beowulf-Almer fight.

But the writing could be better.

"So, they won the L5 Campaign.... with their EXTREME mechs!"

They could rewrite it and rename it a Super Chou Kijin Wars and I'd still watch it. Man, Ryu-Oh and Ko-Oh were awesome.

I wish there was more length and exchange to the Bullet-Yuki duel, though. Oh well.

Anyone else like the remix of Steel Beowulf they used in the first two episodes? It is now tied for my favorite version of the song.

Break the Cutie this early in the series? Wow.

My friend joked that at this rate we might get to see the Endless Frontier.

The Project TD plotline wasn't completely dropped. If that image of Tsugumi was just a cameo, I will not forgive the creators.

Episode 6 should be retitled to "And Suddenly... Fanservice!"

I was more annoyed that the Alt could suddenly fly for no adequately explained reason. Especially since it's whole gimmick is that it's supposed to be that it's extremely low-tech compared to the rest of the ensemble. Yet somehow it can fly around and keep up with the Rapiecage in an aerial battle.

That, and I didn't really mind seeing Ouka naked too much.

Every land-based PT in the previous season could hover. They just took it to the logical conclusion.

The OG games actually showcase Impossible Leaping Skills. A Geshpenst Mk-II M cannot use its tackle against a jet. Possibly not enough thruster power. Equip it with a Plasma Cutter or any blade weapon, though, or use its Jet Magnum, and watch said PT fly.

More gym and brainwashing tank scenes, definitely.

It wan't so much that I don't feel the Alt couldn't get up that high, but rather that it seemed to hover in midair a bit too long for my taste.

For some reason the ED is stuck in my head, not because of the fanservice (I've seen more blatant) but because of the music.

Also I like how the plot is sorta coming together, even for someone like myself who hasn't watched/played the Super Robo OG universe except for one GBA game a long time ago.

Most. Awesome. Episode. Ever.

Hero Senki reference absolves the absurdity of mounting the Alt's arm weapons on the Geshpenst Mk-II S. Wait, given these two bits of awesome, anything can be forgiven. Even the cancellation of the Gundam Huckebein III.

That is so incredibly right in so incredibly many ways. While this might not be the best adaptation from more serious standpoint, the fanservice and style is truly phenomenal.

Sadly, D was chosen. Also, LOL'd at the translated attack and damage menu on the EX-bein's console, which was only missing the accuracy column.

A friend commented on the "Guarbein": it's not enough for the pilot to have a Paper-Thin Disguise, the mecha has to have one too!

Am I the only one who found Obari's character designs to be too much of a good thing?

^^ In my opinion, I think it should have been spelled the GARbein, but maybe that's just me. It also seems that Vigagi has already started breaking the fourth wall, pushing Mr. Gourmet off of the screen at one point.

while i dont mind og the animacion i think ill love this series the gestpenst kick and gilliam summoning his mech was pretty cool

finally catching up with this series... I'm beginning to need a score card to keep up with all the different factions

seriously though... this makes me wonder how good the video games are and if any of the ones translated into english are all that good.

Must say, that was quite a clever little play on Shoot the Hostage they had here. Their idea, or a legacy of the games?
