Alas, this is not a game.
Following the events of [REDACTED], we should probably get some rules in this place. Not hard-and-fast, you-will-obey, on-pain-of-death rules, of course; more a sort of guideline for how to keep things fun and entertaining for all involved. Obviously, FG is all about fun, but these rules are intended to make sure it stays that way.
- Try to stay vaguely on topic. You can be flexible; sometimes the rules need changing, and OPs, there's no point in trying to make Tropers play a game they don't want to. But if the game is "let's pretend to be kittens", don't derail into "let's pretend to be robot samurai". Remember, anyone can make a thread here, so if you don't see a game that interests you, make your own thread for that. You don't need to ruin other people's games.
- On that note, please don't turn every thread into a free-for-all fight. There is a thread
for that. More generally, you don't need to derail every thread into a roleplaying game. As it happens, we have an entire subforum for if you want to roleplay.
- If you are supposed to be roleplaying, please refrain from godmodding. It's not funny, it's not fair, and it disrupts the game. That means no playing unbeatable characters. Be especially careful when killing other people's characters. Give them a fair chance; rather than writing "*shoots That Troper's head off*", consider "*fires gun at That Troper's face*". The line between Godmodding and regular fighting can be somewhat nebulous, so please exercise your common sense and personal judgement.
- Be wary of conversational derails. They're a fact of life on these forums, but try not to go overboard, or you may find there isn't a game left.
- Take your drama someplace else. FG isn't the place for that shit. We're here to have fun, not start a Flame War.
- Don't write your posts in a way that makes it hard for other tropers to participate in the game: Remember that forum games are a collaborative project, not a competition. Please do not write your posts with the intention of trying to one up other people by making it hard for them to build upon your post in a constructive way.
- No sex or fetish games. Let's keep this vaguely family friendly.
- Please bump responsibly. Due to the amount of games played every day, it's normal for a thread to be knocked off of the first page within hours. With that in mind, regulars will wait several days or a few weeks before bumping. Please use the same amount of courtesy. Threads that are time-sensitive (such as YIAY) do allow a bit of leeway regarding this rule, in case the user presenting the prompt needs to be pinged or if there are not enough responses after time has passed.
- Above all, have fun! This being Forum Games, that's what we all want, right? These rules are not intended to oppress anyone, but rather as a gentle reminder of how to avoid that dreaded Internet Backdraft. That way, we can all enjoy ourselves. ^_^

- The avatar minimum and the keep sockpuppeting to a minimum rule have been removed from the rule list.
- Don't write your posts in a way that makes it hard for other tropers to participate in the game rule has been added to the rules list

That's exactly what's been going on; recently, he's been acting like an arrogant Rules Lawyer and has at least once tried to reinforce his PrinciplesZealot on all of us because I stumped a round "too early", never mind that I was emotionally strained that day and couldn't focus well. And he implicated fellow player GeekyGirl despite her having nothing to do with the situation.
And to back Cutegirl up, he's been doing it on the Disney and Paramount threads too.

What if you're hosting a guessing game round and people have stopped asking questions in said game?

Giving a hint or two would suffice, especially if you're hosting a round that features a particularly niche character.
I'd rather not do that, as someone may mistake it for bumping earlier than necessary.

I have bumped guessing games while giving hints to rounds I'm hosting in the same post and no one made a fuss, so you should be fine.

Yeah, in that case it would go under one of the allowed exceptions. Given that the time is listed as anything between "several days or a few weeks" it feels like less of a strict all-compassing rule of a specific timeframe and more of a "just use your best judgment"

Well I think so if enough time has passed. I once hosted a guessing game and no one replied in two weeks so I just called it there. If it’s been barely a day, than I don’t think it’s completely necessary.

I can see the Name the Above Troper's Flaw thread going horribly wrong. It feels like an invitation to call out people where they don't want it and that'll lead to heated arguments.
So, should we keep the thread around?

Yeah for me it feels uncomfortable posting in that thread. And the “what offends you about the previous post” seems like a more positive way of letting out stress than actively criticizing other people. Maybe if it that thread was about avatars’ flaws instead, it might be less antsy of a topic.

Skan and Pokecaptor have been involved in a war of passive-aggressive pettiness for the last month.
This began with a guessing game (Though this could’ve also added fuel to the fire) where Skan deciding to do a round without a recap, which after it was pointed out by other posters, Pokecaptor (while somewhat justified) went on tirades by being a rules lawyer, to which Skan responded back with annoyance. While the incident was resolved, the two have not let go of being completely petty, Pokecaptor continually stumps rounds (most of whoms are Skan’s) in an attempt to be “orderly” and keep things on-rail, while Skan retaliates in attempts to reason with them. Pokecaptor’s has also been similarly dismissive towards other tropers, featured in Skan’s complaint above.
I am not looking for a winner, (and I know I’m a part of the problem). I just want a resolution on both sides. And I apologize in advance at any harm this drama brings.

Now it seems that the Guess the Mythological Character thread is one of the few guessing games that hasn't been affected by the Sean-Skan war yet, due to both of them not being there.

I'd like to point out that as much as I should have kept quiet instead of feelinh provoked, the reason why I said so is because Sean grew more obnoxious and mean, playing the Rules Lawyer card at every turn. I didn't take kindly to this change, hence my involvement.
To be fair, I shouldn't have flared up in response to a few of his actions, but it's how he goes about it that bugs me.

I feel like banning will not solve anything, as both Pokecaptor has apparently had a history of suspensions and being told off, while I’ve realized Skan is sort of justified (if extreme) in trying to tell them to knock it off. It seems the former is the issue and should be told about it, but I also don’t know if it’s the right thing to make it a bigger problem than it is.

And even if you're waiting for a reply from another player, be patient - people have lives outside of this site. If they're hosting a round and haven't responded in, say, 24+ hours, you could ping or PM them, but bumping after just a few hours is unnecessary.
