[up][up] It even ruined another franchise by being too beloved by fans.

The original Fable suffered dramatically for inventing its own Fandom Rivalry, advertising itself as "the Morrowind-killer", resulting in a fairly decent game suffering tremendously for its Hype Backlash. Fable hasn't exactly done poorly for itself ever since, but every installment immediately draws comparison to the latest Elder Scrolls because of that ill-fated decision in marketing.

[up][up] Then you're just comparing Apples and Oranges (Also, since when do Dudebros form the majority of gamers? I'd like to see that census data). You're comparing FPS and Western RP Gs have different audience - partially because they require a different time commitment and offer widely differing appeal...

So if your point is "Not as popular as COD" and "Not a game played by non gamers" well... no shit. Most things aren't. Including pretty much all of Bioware's output, and Bioware's almost synonymous with Western RPG.

Doesn't help Fable that Molyneux basically promised the moon and didn't deliver. Like trees that would grow in real time. And the game's marketing was entirely based on how your choice of being good or evil would matter, when in game your alignment can be altered by just paying money and by such silly things as wearing dark clothes to be more evil, and white ones to be good. And none of your choices have lasting gameplay effects. Or how the game would be all about freedom and player choices when most of the game is pretty damn linear and most of the game's maps are essentially corridors. The entire franchise is since tainted by this: Every announcement basically held up with an "Assuming they aren't lying to us this time".

Hmmmm...

Leliana kind of has prior engagements such as Spymaster or Divine to be traveling with the Warden during Inquisition. Morrigan is most likely with the Inquisition by that time too. Alistair has too many place he could be by the time of Inquisition that being an adventurer with the Warden seems like an impossible setting.

My general picture of such a DLC would be that it starts with the Warden in some small camp in god knows where writing a letter to the Inquisitor and Leliana/Morrigan/Alistair/Zevran before continuing out on their adventure. The idea being that the DLC would take place during Inquisition with its events and the ripples of those events occurring at the same time.

Which means having Morrigan as a companion, though I'd find that fascinating as the interaction between her and a romanced!Warden or a Dark Ritual!Warden with their kid there would be interesting, it would be really difficult to have her there.

I also would really love some kind of Acid sequence with whatever villain there is and there's a hallucination with your respective love interest (Zevran, Leliana, Morrigan, and Alistair) and shit gets crazy fast. I would imagine that they might need an outfit change in some places; Alistair and the Warden wearing more King/Queenly attire for the scene and it now makes me wonder if the Warden integrated himself with the Orlesian Court as Morrigan did.

I'd settle for a DLC of the Warden finding the cure to the calling. It'd tie in Inquisition events by being an opportunity to learn more about the blight. Maybe how it came to be in the black city and what the damn thing is about.

My proposed DLC would also be that.

  • The Hero of Ferelden's search to cure the Calling.
  • The Grey Warden Civil War.
  • The Fear Demon responsible for the fake Calling, never resolved, and whoever was left behind in the Fade to fight it.

These three things tie into each other so intrinsically that a DLC where the player controls the Hero of Ferelden again could address them all, especially as all three are loose threads rather than direct hooks for a likely Tevinter/Seheron sequel.

Well we are told the fear Demon got shunted to the ass ends of the fade and rendered mostly impotent when the portal was closed. Justinia explains that.

@Warden DLC party:

  • Mage: Morrigan
  • Warrior: Oghren/Shale/Random Warden from Vigil's Keep
  • Rogue: Leliana/Zevran/Nathaniel/Inquisition Scout with a letter from Divine Leliana(Harding?)

Oghren is a perfect pick for Warrior.

I still think Leliana can work for Rogue even if she's Divine. If Cassandra can make excuses for why it's TOTES IMPORTANT that she go have adventures with the Inquisitor, Leliana can justify taking a personal interest in the Grey Warden Civil War.

It can even play into the conflict itself, with Morrigan supporting the Wardens' need to operate on their own without restriction, versus Divine/Spymaster Leliana encouraging the idea that Thedas can can no longer afford for the Wardens to operate independent from the rest of the world, and should be folded into the existing power structures - keeping in line with her melting pot ideals.

Leliana could potentially work...

Unless the DLC takes place during the game at which point she'd have no opportunity, or if the Warden killed her/left her for dead. In which case, why would she come?

Morrigan has a similar issue; Warden might have gone Princess Stabbity on her and thus she'd have no desire to him them. And, like previously said, if the DLC occurs during the main game of Inquisition; we know where she is and what she's up to for the entirety of the game so there's no opportunity for her to go off to DLC land.

It has to take place after the main game since we know that the Warden doesn't stop the Calling or send word for Alistair/Loghain to come do X to be cured during the main game. The contact with the Warden is also a late game WT mission IIRC.

I'd set it between the end of the game and the "coronation" of the new Divine(which should be a few months after the end since all the major countries will want to send their kings and queens, a party has to be planned etc).

Btw, what VA's should voice the Warden?

Edit: Morrigan leaves Skyhold at the end of the game.

The Warden should be voiced by Christopher Walken if male, and Kate Mulgrew if female.

No one will comment on her sounding like Flemeth.

[up]No wonder Morrigan never went for a Fem!Warden.

I would say Troy Baker for Male!Warden except he could be a good choice for DA 4.

Tara Strong for Fem!Warden? She has a great range and could do a crap ton of voices.

I love Troy Baker, but he's everywhere.

Personally I'd rather they just get voice actors that aren't famous.

Troy Baker is everywhere because he's a good actor. Supposedly, he was almost the Male!Inquisitor. But, like I said, since he's a good VA, I'd rather save him for DAIV (Dave???) than for a single DLC which could very well be the end of the Warden.

Well, yeah. I know why he's everywhere, but that doesn't mean it doesn't get somewhat tiresome hearing his voice- as nice a voice as it is- every time I play a new game.

Maybe the male Warden could be voiced by Viggo Mortenson. At least warriors could.
