Covers for fanfics are fine to use without permission I believe. Especially when they are just manips like OP.

I don't remember what trope was discussed on a thread before, but it was suggested something similiar using fanfic covers that are just Photoshop edits that aren't good to illustrate.

To be clear, I am okay with neither going up because it is probably just me and this is hard to show with fan works. I just thought they were worth suggesting.
