Konosuba: Ah, I didn't know it was coming back so soon. Still, mixed feelings about this one. The second half is a Darkness story. While Darkness is fine as the comic relief, when she becomes the center of a story it usually drags. I remember volume 6 pretty well, but I have no memories whatsoever of volume 7, which shows you how memorable it was to me.

Laidback Camp: Popular anime suddenly changes studios. What could possibly go wrong?! Not sure about this one either. The PV didn't inspire much confidence. The animation looked pretty stiff and limited, and the backgrounds seemed drab and uninteresting, which is a bad sign for a Scenery Porn anime. Has the potential to go down as a One-Punch Man season 2-level debacle.

Whisper Me a Love Song: Really curious about this one. Mainly because of the behind the scenes turmoil. I fully expect we'll be able to tell which portions were animated by Cloud Hearts (a shitty low-budget isekai factory studio) and which portions were animated by Yokohama (an actually good animation studio).

Some quick notes:

  • It's unclear if the new Bartender series is a reboot
  • However, the new Spice & Wolf absolutely is a reboot
  • Girls Band Cry reunites the Love Live Sunshine staff
  • God's Game We Play is from the writer of Our Last Crusade
  • I don't think the new Idolmaster series is related to any of the previous ones? Correct me if I'm wrong on that, though
  • I Was Reincarnated as the 7th Prince and As a Reincarnated Aristocrat, I'll Use My Appraisal Skill sound similar but are not. The former is a goofy OP adventurer thing, the latter a fairly subdued story about management
  • Jellyfish Can't Swim in the Night has the writer of Bottom-Tier Character Tomozaki
  • The summaries for Quality Assurance in Another World mostly leave out the actual premise, so I'll tell you now that it's about bug testers trapped in a VR game
  • A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics is from the writer of Haganai and A Sister's All You Need
  • Sand Land is... I'm going to need multiple bullet points for this one
    • The manga was created by the guy the did all the Dragon Quest characters and monsters
    • Said manga was only one volume long. The TV anime is going to be greatly extended, based on a story provided by the original creator
    • And I say "TV anime" because there's also a movie covering the original work. I'm not entirely clear on the relationship between the movie and the series (I think they're cutting the movie into episodes?)
  • Shuumatsu Train Doko e Iku? reunites the Shirobako staff
  • Studio Apartment, Good Lighting, Angel Included is from the creator of As Miss Beelzebub likes it
  • Latest Touken Ranbu anime isn't a continuation of any of the other anime in the franchise, but an adaption of the first stage play. Which I guess did pretty well, since it already got a film adaption
  • Wind Breaker should not be confused with the Korean bicycling comic. Or farting

If you're familiar with God's Game We Play, Karasu wa Aruji o Erabanai, Oi! Tonbo, or A Salad Bowl of Eccentrics I would love to hear what you think of them

I'm not sure that it held a lot of appeal for most people, but I really enjoyed the original run of Bartender. I do hope that this is a reboot that stays closer to the manga. The first anime depicted Ryuu as almost a Mr. Perfect kind of figure, while in the manga he's at least sometimes a bit of a lunkhead, albeit one that absolutely can make fantastic drinks and does a good job at reading people.

I'm cautiously optimistic about it. I doubt they'll ever top that first OP though.

Curious about Unnamed Memory… Having read the first two volumes of the LN, it has a rather slow start and the male protagonist has some, let’s say, objectionable traits, but it’s worth it for Tinasha alone. If they manage to transcribe the series’ slightly melancholic mood and thrilling action scenes, this can be good.

And I feel it’s not that often that a heroic fantasy series has a male and a female protagonists that are both equally important (though Tinasha has far more depth if you ask me). Animation doesn’t look that great though.

Looking at the list I'm here for Demon Slayer (I still need to watch Season 3 of that though.), My Hero, and iDOLM@STER. I would say I'd watch Hibike! Euphonium and Laid Back Camp but I never finished their second seasons. I guess Laid Back Camp is episodic enough that I can catch up in time but Hibike! Euphonium has too much plot that I don't remember where I left off at.

I had that same thought about reading the manga, since there was a gap in the scanlations. When I picked up the chapters after the gap, I thought, "Who the hell are Mei and Ema and why is everybody obsessed with mountain biking now?"

Eh. Not much that interests me again besides Spice & Wolf remake probably. I may pick up 2-3 series based on the mood like this season but I really hope it some of the already announced shows will be added to this season later.

Looking into Fable (saw Okada in the movies) and No. 8 (maybe. Saw Olivia Hack mention that she wants to be casted in it)

Some things to note about 7th Prince are that it wildly shifts in tone from arc to arc. Sometimes its deadly serious, sometimes its extremely goofy. Also you need to put up with a main character who is about as onside fight-sexual as Goku is, except he's hella shota and also replace the normal shounen fight-sexuality with one-sided magic knowledge acquiring. Also all the girls are somehow attracted to this 12 year old (even if he mentally is much older and also frequently uses a disguise that ages himself up).

Most likely looking forward to Wind Breaker! I've been meaning to get into the series for a while, but I wasn't able to start it AT ALL given the limited time... Maybe with this, I can get into it at last!
Also looking forward to TadaOka and SasaKoi because of the rainbows!
As for the rest, hmmmm... who knows...?

Oh yeah, technically spring is when the Blue Lock EpiNagi movie will come too, and as an avid Blue Lock stan, I will catch it!

Mission: Yozakura Family and Kaiju No. 8 are getting their animes this year?

Fuck, gotta read those finally. I've heard some hype for the latter but I've heard nothing about the former.

I wonder how people are going to take Sand Land. I'm honestly not sure if "from the creator of Dragon Ball" is going to help it or give it an impossible hill to climb.

  • Konosuba is a definite must-watch for me.
  • I'm still catching up with Yuru Camp (currently S1 E3) so it'll be a while before I get to S3.
  • I pray that Demon Slayer is better this time around than the boring dragging that S3 was.

…Yay? >.> At least the title says "bride" and not "slave", so maybe it doesn’t stay that way… hopefully…

From what I remember the entire crux of that series is him finding a way to get powerful enough to break the slave spell on her so she can be free.

People can make what they want, just don't engage with it if you find it objectionable. (In this specific case I don't have interest, but this is my general thought whenever reactions like this to a work, usually anime, comes up)

You can poke fun at something. Just makes sure its actually something that deserves it and not something that's catching a stray because you don't actually know what its about.

This is another one I'd like to ask for feelings on— I can find the translation, I just... really hate how KR webtoons feel compelled to be 60% whitespace

Viral Hit is pretty fun.

Its part of the same shared universe as Lookism, Quest Supremacy, and Manager Kim.
