Should the Astartes be so tall that they can be only seen by a pan up?
Ultramarines are the 'classic' Astartes and the default portrayal since the second iteration, so they can be used for the introduction.

Gonna be honest, I'd bloody love for the first live-action appearance of Space Marines to be the Blood Ravens.
Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen.I'd have Blood Ravens solely because Dawn of war popularized them, hell Ultra marine vs blood ravens because red on blue conflict
New theme music also a boxIf the scene that follows the first apparition of the Space Marines has guards discussing that they really are haughty bitches, then the Smurfs would be the perfect pick.
Aside from that, if the plan is for the Astartes to have personality, then any pick but the UM would be fine.
The Blood Ravens have come to "acquire"this TV show for our chapter.

E.T technically is a Isekai movieWarhammer 40,000: Space Marine managed to redeem the Ultramarines, in my eyes at least. They remain traditionalists, but not to such an insane degree. And that game also had a brief appearance by the Blood Ravens, including the Ultramarines greeting them as honored brothers instead of being all haughty about it.
Still don't think this will be a Space Marine show, though.
Because Space Marine emphasised how the Codex Astartes is ultimately a guide, not the be-all and end-all you have to follow strictly to the letter.
Titus is a great character because he understands that you need to adapt to a situation as it occurs, not be an annoying Codex-botherer like the guy who snitched on him (and ironically went against what the Codex says by doing so because you're supposed to report shit like that to a chapter chaplain, not the bloody Inquisition).
Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen. The more ironical thing is that the guy who co-wrote the Codex was a rule-breaker who think outside of the box.
E.T technically is a Isekai movieGuilliman only intended the codex to be a guide and foundation point, hell a lot of what he intended got out of control once he was no longer around to correct people.
Eisenhorn: "I am the one who knocks."
GIVE ME YOUR FACEI mean, he doesn't really do a lot of knocking though. He's the sort of Inquisitor who looks down on the ones who knock rather than be discreet and already be inside before the homeowner even knows he's there.
I mean I know it was a breaking bad reference but Eisenhorn literally has an internal monologue in his first book mocking Inquisitors who announce their presence compared to his usual routine of being discreet for as long as practical.
Yeah, Eisenhorn only really dresses the part when necessary - because sometimes you need to look like an inquisitor and sometimes you don't.

Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen. And sometimes they just like playing dress-up *cough*Amberly Vail*cough*
its not dress up its a disguise!
New theme music also a boxAh yes, Captain Titus. The guy who looks like a boring Space Marine (Not Trademarked) IN A GAME called Space Marine (Trademarked) who is a part of the most vanilla faction of Space Marines (Trademarked) dropped into an era of gaming filled to the brim with boring space marines (Not Trademarked) who wound up... Actually being pretty unique and awesome. Goddamn stellar dude.
Also funny how the "No female space marines" came up so early. Again. Someone should go back in time to the late 1980's and cut that font of nerd misogyny out at the source. "Ooooh but you have Sisters of Battle!" HEY GUESS WHAT ADEPTAS SORIRATAS HAVE PLENTY OF MALE UNITS goddamn.
... Where was I? Oh yeah. There's gonna be a TV Show.
So despite being buff as hell and a movie star Henry Cavill is actually a turbonerd. Based. I'm not sure if being slavishly accurate to the source material is for the best every time but there's a reason 40k enraptures people over and over again. I'm guessing Henry understands that.
There's no way it won't be an Inquisitor show. There's a reason that the typical 40k roleplaying game is Dark Heresy. It's the perfect excuse to throw together a varied team of characters and have them explore and explain the world with an overarching mystery AND plenty of action along the way. It's absolutely perfect fodder for a big-budget primetime type series.
I mean, those things aren't mutually exclusive and people definitely should acting like they are.
Welcome to Estalia, gentlemen.Listen the stereotypes where very much enforced when I was a kid. Just because the world has grown doesn't mean I have to.
One possibility I've considered is maybe a show about Ciaphas Cain (HERO OF THE IMPERIUM) as its mostly human protagonists, Cavill himself fits the role/image of the strapping, handsome and charismatic hero and could have fun sending up his general image of playing heroic stoic types by playing the Cowardly Lion Cain.
On the other hand, the humour/tone relies heavily on the narrative format and would be very difficult to successfully translate to live action. And even if successful it wouldn't be as funny to the majority who don't have a knowledge of the "normal" 40K tone and tropes being sent up, even if Games Workshop are willing to start out with a comedic show, which seems unlikely.
Maybe one for the future instead.
"These 'no-nonsense' solutions of yours just don't hold water in a complex world of jet-powered apes and time travel."Yeah if not a Gaunt's Ghosts series, a Ciaphas Cain series would be my next wish, followed by an Eisenhorn series. These three novel series I think are the ones that would best translate to live action.
Yeah, one is a sort of Gothic Detective, while the others would be good war series a la Band of Brothers or The Pacific.
It’s unlikely to happen but for a story concerning the alien races and the Space Marines, an animated film would be pretty cool as animation would be able to more easily capture the insane scale of the exploits of the Astartes.
Prolly would have to be better made than the Ultramarines movie.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Get the guy from Astartes to work on it.
Don't care much for it. I like Warhammer Fantasy more than 40,000 because of its similarities with Dungeons & Dragons and because its less edgelord-y and mean spirited than 40k. Plus, I'm grumpy that 40k got all the attention before Total War and Vermintide happened.
Less edgelordy is VERY much relative, given that fantasy end very much with the chaos gods winning exactly as they have being hinting while 40k faction are still fighting.
"My Name is Bolt, Bolt Crank and I dont care if you believe or not"
blood ravens or ultramarines,you decide!
