Imagine that trial
The First manZootopia aside. Can we talk about the casting choice of Albert Wesker? He's basically Blade's copycat here.

“Boom! Boomboom! Boomboomboom! Bakuage Tire! Gogogo!"Blade isn't even bald. He has a fade. Does Wesker wield a sword and hunt vampires or something in here?

"All you Fascists bound to lose."Well the Wesker (yes there are multiple ones) who dons the leather outfit also has a fade. There is definitly a resamblence.
I dont think it is a good sign that I have not seen anyone talk about the actual horror elements of what is supposed to be a horror show yet.

Wow, he does look like he's doing a Blade cosplay.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."...screw it, I'm down, let's go. Binging this now.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).It's funny since Lance Reddick's Wesker is considered one of the few good things about the show from what I've heard. He apparently knocked it out of the park despite the horrible dialogue and writing.
"That's right mortal. By channeling my divine rage into power, I have forged a new instrument in which to destroy you."Called it last page.

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Lance Reddick needs a chiropractor after carrying this show on his back.
Evelyn was pretty good too, and I wish we had more scenes of adult Billie..
Put it is possible this series will get a season 2, so who knows?
In a way, it's kind of fitting.
What is Wesker, if not a guy who's always trying to ice-skate uphill?
I mean, its too late now probably but get Lance to be Whistler.
:)
Author of The Rules of Supervillainy, Cthulhu Armageddon, and United States of Monsters.Okay. Let's start with good things about the first few episodes.
- Lance Reddick is hilarious and imposing as usual. Granted, he got the Scary Black Man role and got to be a black dad with troubled teens, but hey.
- There's going to be a lot of memes.
- Evelyn Marcus is a Complete Monster, possibly even moreso than Wesker.
- Jade is no Alice and she's not a one-woman army making decisions that one-up everybody else. Got very fatigued on "unstoppable, do-no-wrong self insert characters" thanks to the films so its nice to see flawed, relatable protagonists in a Resident Evil story again.
- Wesker as a semi-decent father (well a caring one at least) is interesting. Can't wait to see him break bad if that's where its going.
- The use of Mazzy Star was -chef's kiss-
- It's definitely going somewhere and I like when shows can go from relatively mundane to extraordinary settings
Now, I guess I can sum up the bad things without going on a rant, and avoiding the obvious they didn't play or adapt the games at all and that makes me want to cuss.
- Billie and Jade are the dumbest teenagers I've seen in a TV show since Rory Gilmore - they decided to run and hide from a dog. They broke into a secure facility to take pictures of rabbits. Jade attacked a student then hid evidence in her sister's locker.
- Umbrella having a company town is completely original to the show.
- Split timelines in TV shows are just a bad idea in general and TV shows need to stop thinking that just because LOST did it, they can. See Fear The Walking Dead Season 4.
- Why on earth is there a character more monstrous than Albert freaking Wesker.
- The pre-apocalypse timeline is more interesting than the post-apocalypse one. Guess which one is taking up more screentime.
- Wesker keeping a top-level security card anywhere in the reach of his daughters...
- Jade's way over-budget 20-foot drop should... definitely have not been survivable. Even if it was, being able to get up, run, and fight zombies?
- Zeroes? Really? I know TWD had fun coming up with biters, empties, and lamebrains - but those were cool names. Resident Evil had no problem calling them zombies.
Episode 1 was a big groan but after Episode 2 I'm getting kind of hooked...

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).I don't get people's obsession with turning RE into a typical Zombie Apocalypse. Part of what makes it unique among zombie stories is that it's not an apocalypse, but an isolated outbreak the protagonist has to and can escape.
Disney100 Marathon | DreamWorks MarathonI suspect it might be a case of wanting to show a Surprisingly Realistic Outcome. All these zombie outbreaks can't be good for the planet.
A potential "final" Resident Evil game could even end with an apocalypse or be set in a post-apocalyptic world.
Its all about upping the scale and making things more dramatic and also zombie apocalypses are a super trendy
New theme music also a boxPlus if the show gets a second season, it gives them a lot of space to play with in between the present and past.
Almost done with the season, I will say that so far Jade is pretty unsympathetic in my opinion. A lot of the bad things that happen do so because of her decisions.
You and I remember Budapest very differentlyThis show is giving great memes tho, found this on Tumblr
"Porn Hub: (slowly shredding a resume) Albert Wesker sends his regards. "

The First manI'm on Episode 5 and Jade just made a reference to Clannad.
And the slightly overweight mook guy Baxter proved himself a badass before getting eaten by zombies.
I'm actually starting to like this show . Jade and Billie grow on you as protagonists, and Lance Reddick's Wesker is interesting and beginning to show his true colors.
And holy shit they actually play Moonlight Sonata in Ep 5. God its fanservice like this that redeems things for me.

Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Episode 7.
The parallels between OG Wesker's self-centered self-preservation efforts and "Al" using Billie and Jade as his failsafes/serums is... deeply tragic.
I like this twist on Wesker.
And Evelyn Marcus is a goddamned rat and I will say she's carrying this show more than Lance Reddick is.
EDIT: F-ck. I just got to "that" scene. Grand Theft Me is such a disturbing trope to me and seeing Evelyn in that position turned my stomach a little. Any scene where someone just isn't in control of their body being used like a meat puppet grosses me out.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).Nemesis when?
New theme music also a boxEpisode 8.
I would even daresay this show is rather good. I hope Netflix gives it another season if Season 1 doesn't wrap everything up. Between this and Cowboy Bebop I'd rather not let internet outright dictate what shows get to conclude or not.
Akira Toriyama (April 5 1955 - March 1, 2024).
Honestly even mentioning Zootopia rule 34 is in poor taste, they might even get sued by disney for sheer cluelessness
