TV One is an American basic cable television channel owned by Urban One targeting African-Americans, much like BET. The channel was launched on January 19, 2004, on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day and was originally a joint venture between Urban One (formerly known as Radio One) and NBCUniversal (who was then later absorbed by Comcast in 2011). In 2015, Urban One bought out Comcast's 47.9% share of TV One for $550 million.
TV One's programming is targeted toward African-American adults and features a variety of original programming, such as sitcoms, dramas, documentaries, and reality shows. The channel also airs a variety of classic black films and television shows. Cleo TV is a sister network to TV One, targeting African-American women.
It is not to be confused with the Indonesian TV network of the same name.
