Thinking of adding some new tropes to Canonical List of Subtle Trope Distinctions:

Planned additions:

Broad Strokes vs Loose Canon vs The Stations of the Canon

  • Broad Strokes: Some of the events happened in the new canon, but not all of them did.
  • Loose Canon: A work is not clearly defined as canon, but fits into it by design.
  • The Stations of the Canon: A series of iconic events in a story are revisited.

Loose Canon vs Schrödinger's Canon

  • Loose Canon: Not clearly canon, but neatly fits into it.
  • Schrödinger's Canon: Work is meant to be canonical to some extent, but other parts are not cohesive with the main canon, therefore it's both canon and non-canon.

Alan Smithee vs Stage Name

  • Alan Smithee: A name used to disavow a work.
  • Stage Name: An actor changes their name to make it easier to understand or more exotic-sounding.

Adaptation Deviation vs In Name Only

  • Adaptation Deviation is when an adaptation makes major changes from the source material in such a way it's quite a change.
  • In Name Only is when the work could stand alone on its own merit and all that ties it to the source material is the title. Often involves drastic changes.

Secret-Identity Identity vs Second Super-Identity

  • Secret-Identity Identity is when a character who has a secret identity questions who the real them is.
  • Second Super-Identity is when a superhero creates a second persona to do things their main superhero persona cannot or will not do.

Checking here to avoid any Edit War ; this isn't a TRS situation but not sure it fits Ask The Tropers.
