Nanahoshi Reveal dump time.
Watch SymphogearMan, I forgot how down Bad Syphie was until she horrified Ariel with how detailed she really is about that.
Watch SymphogearThis week, we learn that the animators, and possibly the author, have no idea how snow works.
How do you mean? It looked fine to me.
Burning a big weird tunnel through the snow like that is a terrible idea that would get flood waters rushing in to fill the tunnel behind you; it would clearly be way easier to just create magic snowshoes to allow you to walk on top of it, or use air pressure or something to compress it to the point where you wouldn't sink.
And we also had that absolutely bizarre and inexplicable moment where the snow was abruptly three feet lower for no reason; that wouldn't happen without human intervention.

And the arc comes to an end. The couple is at last together
And nothing bad is going to happen.
Nope. Its all smooth sailing from here.
(Remembers that Cour 2 comes out in April)
Wait...
Watch SymphogearWelp, it's time to ask that billion dollar question... Do you feel as though Rudeus character was written consistently in this arc?
Personally? Well if you check a couple pages back you'll already know how I feel, and to be honest it's been quite a ride this season knowing that this arc did nothing except prove me right about it's main character. If it wasn't for that damn slavery sub-plot I'd be speaking differently, and if it wasn't for the beast girls scene I'd be speaking very differently.
Anywho, this arc was terrible. Hopefully next arc the story doesn't try to focus on sex and sexuality because every time this story does it has no idea what the hell it's doing or what the hell it's talking about. This whole arc has been the equivalent of someone suggesting that you use some homeopathic version of viagra from some foreign country in order to deal with your performance issues... As opposed to seeing a damn therapist or actually working through your mental hangups without the help of a love interest being your non-cure.
Rudeus himself didn't actually do anything himself worthwhile towards sorting out his mental hangups except be a nuisance and hindrance towards his own goal until he just got lucky enough that the little girl he thought was a little guy (there's a 2 nickels joke here somewhere) turned out to be the same little girl he said he was going to take advantage of. I mean he literally wakes up after his night with Sylphie scared shitless that she abandoned him like Eris. That's not growth, not in the slightest.
Mushoku Tensei really doesn't respect what an important issue something like this even is, and it just wasted 12 episodes showcasing that.
I would say I disagree, the aphrodisiac kept him hard one encounter, it didn't really fix him. What fixed him from my pov is that she stayed until the next morning.
His mental block was linking intimacy with rejection, that is why at the cave it went soft. It is true that it was convenient sylphie had access to it, but in my recollection the fact that it exists at all, was properly set up.
Yeah, that was my understanding too — it wasn't the sex, it was what came after.
Giggity.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. The episode where Rudeus punished the beast girls was a Big-Lipped Alligator Moment for me. Especially when he admits that the damage is trivial for him to fix, but just keeps going.
If you don't want to delete the event from continuity, you could... I dunno, have a focus episode centred around other characters, and have Rudeus briefly show up to mention what he's doing. Easier to play the over-the-topness of it for laughs if it's delivered as a Non Sequitur, doesn't disrupt Rudeus's story if it happens outside of it, and it could be used as an opportunity to show how other people view him.
Reading that trope, i don't think the scene qualifies. The only criteria it passes is lack of story impact, but that could apply to a lot of the academy arc. It's definitely in-character and the natural outcome of things established in that episode and previously.
I said I would come back to this with the new season and I do intend to keep with that but oh my God this show is chronically obsessed with ruining every episode with the most backwards ass incel pandering, coomerisms and degrading sexualisation of women. The way the show treats Sylphie giving her virginity to him with him constantly mentioning how it was her "most precious thing", "curing his illness" and enshrining her fucking virgin blood is so fucking disgusting and it keeps playing heartwarming music over it as if it makes it any less degrading. I officially don't care about his relationship with Sylphie.
And then 20 minutes of the show focuses on a decently fun ghost busting house hunting adventure and I'm just constantly asking myself why the author insists on ruining his story with nonsense.

I absolutely cannot help but adore handsome 2D boysOh wow. I did not grasp the significance of those opening seconds until I rewatched them. Yeah, this just goes out of its way to be creepy while wholesome music plays in the background. And the juxtaposition isn't presented like a joke. At this point the series treats the "shrine" like a romantic gesture

Being unbearably creepy about women sure is the thing of all time to find cute.

I absolutely cannot help but adore handsome 2D boysMaybe I don't find it creepy because they aren't real people, they're fictional characters.
If this were live action, it would probably be creepier, though, but its not.
Watch SymphogearA sick incel fuck is a sick incel fuck whether they're live-action or animated.
It's still pretty creepy, I don't know what to tell you dude. This series is actually trying to tell a narrative that I'm meant to take seriously, it's not bargain bin porn.

I absolutely cannot help but adore handsome 2D boysDarn, the op leaked from crunchyroll. Someone already reuploaded and added lyrics to it.
As for the first episode of this cour. I was pleasantly surprised at how the show used this to introduce divine magic, given it was skipped over during the Sara's party segment. When talking about the shrine, and Rudeus' obsession with the garments it holds. I would unironically call it a full on fetish, but in the anthropological sense. His fetishistic attachment to the items is to him an actual religious devotion. It could be described as paraphillic too, if we want to go there.

I was wondering why the op moved so hideously, it's the 60fps nonsense. That said this is probably the most generic of all the ops
I absolutely cannot help but adore handsome 2D boysI had not noticed it was processed to 60 fps, lol. It does fuck with the animation here. The op basically just spoils the main plot beats of the whole season, though I hope the dungeon crawl at the end of the op does return to using the op runtime to do shots of the location. I doubt Yuiko Ohara will do a special op for that part of the season, sadly.
So I heard the second season started last week...
I hope we get to see more of Eris. She was my favorite character, and I was super creeped out by her whole last scene. Rudeus had every opportunity to put his foot down and say no, and he didn't. I hope she's okay.
"I don't have the power to reverse my destiny. [...] But I'm not going to turn away from my fate anymore." — Kiriya
And with episode 9 we finally meet a fellow countryperson to rudeus.
his sudden panic attack was very well depicted, I think. Nanahoshi being the highschooler he tried to save has got to fuck with him a bit.
