That was my thought, too, but I was told in this ATT that red links are automatically skipped over in indexes, so it's fine.
I added some red links to this page I just made, and yeah, they are being skipped over.
However, when/if the page is made, a null edit would be required to make the indexing work. It doesn't get applied retroactively.
Currently Working On: Incorruptible Pure PurenessI'd rather do what I've mentioned on Sandbox.Pages In Accidentally Miscapitalised Namespaces (go to page type in the page info tab, click the edit button, save without doing anything). Saves on blank edits and watchlist annoyance.

Currently mostly inactive. An incremental game I tested: https://galaxy.click/play/176 (Gods of Incremental)The overall point is that you have to go back to the index page and do something (edit or change page type) to it for the indexing to work anyway if it's a redlink.
The other reason I brought this up is in the Romani in Media draft I linked above, more than half the works on there are redlinked because don't have pages. So that's why I'm questioning the usefulness of it.
The advantage of redlinking something is that you have a ready pool of wicks/examples waiting for you when it gets created. Otherwise you have to text-search the wiki to find all the places where someone mentioned it.
As noted, it doesn't matter for the indices; you have to null-edit them anyway.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Oh, no, I have no problem with redlinking elsewhere and encourage it when people bring it up in ATT. It's redlinks in indexes that I specifically question, but I'll take the answer of "it doesn't matter".
So is the consensus that listing red links in indexes is fine? Asking because ~Chrononaut 70 has just removed a bunch of red-linked listings from Deaf Creators.
If we're honest, we should have our indexes comprised of individuals with their own TV Tropes pages. For any red links, they should be deleted or create new pages from them.
Can I get a revert on Deaf Creators to just before this edit?
Thanks.
I was wondering if we had a policy on allowing Red Links (specifically works/creators that don't have pages yet) on indexes other than List of Shows That Need Summary, such as in this draft or this draft. How Indexing Works only mentions that redlinks could mess up the indexing. I know redlinks are encouraged elsewhere, but my gut feeling is that indexes should list pages that already exist, and since creating a page from a redlink will require a null edit anyway, should these be left off? Or at least commented out like the page is made, like in Actors?
