Character pages are a large chunk of the wiki, but they're often filled with problems that don't get resolved. These problems include:
- Zero Context Examples
- Indentation problems, including bulleting tropes under supertropes or tropeslashing
- Spoiler tag misuse
- A lack of alphabetization
- Empty character folders
- Plagiarized character descriptions
- Misused tropes, or tropes that don't belong on character pages
- Broken or incorrect formatting
- Subjective / Trivia trope mentions
Per How to Create a Character Page, character pages should only include tropes that describe the characters. These tropes should fall under Characterization Tropes or one of its related indexes, Unless they're recurring character traits (distinctive things that the character does repeatedly). If you're unsure what counts as a character trope, you can ask about that at Are These Character Tropes
.
All characters must have at least one contextualized trope for their section or folder to be visible. If you find a character that has no contextualized tropes present, comment out the entire section and add this tag:

- Problems with pre-existing images on Characters page need to go via Image Pickin'. Low quality images can usually be upgraded without discussion, but don't change or delete images without Image Pickin' approval.
- Character Specific Pages have their own separate cleanup thread
- Self-demonstrating character pages also have their own thread.
- Inanimate objects and locations on character pages have their own cleanup thread
- Character pages for Reality Show contestants are on-topic here, but there's also a dedicated Reality Show cleanup thread which deals with the No Real Life Examples, Please! grey areas these shows create, and may sometimes be a better place to discuss them.

So I've started watching alot of Star Trek, and the character pages are all out of wack. I feel like all of the pages could be overhauled a lot. I just wanted some thoughts and opinions before I go tearing through all the pages. Also it would probably help with the CSP cleanup.

I do not know yet. I'm thinking of making pages for each individual faction (Federation, Klingon, Romulan, etc.), then further wittling it down by local, either ship or station (Enterprise, DS9, Voyager, Discovery, etc). The years are kind of throwing me off but I do have an idea.

Cool, I was thinking of doing something similar last year for those pages as they were bugging me and coincidentally, I was planning on bringing them up myself within the next few days. If you would like, I did half-heartedly start to organise some of the characters into different categories on my phone and if you would care to see what I got up to so far, I can post it here…?

The Characters.Ever Quest subpages are all extremely short. I think that this is a pretty open-and-shut case, but I thought it might be safest to check in before merging them back together.

Characters.A Place Of Greater Safety has too many tropeless folders to list, while the main page is lacking tropes. Not sure what to do here due to Characters/ page size.

None of the subpages for Urrezko Kaiola reach the byte count requirement. They are all less than 15k.

MCU: Howling Commandos has only 21k bytes. I think they should be folded back into MCU: S.H.I.E.L.D. – Strategic Scientific Reserve which only has 42k bytes.
I suggest merging them all.
Agreed, they're both small pages.
I'd like to merge everything under Characters.Contra back. It seems abandoned by original editor and subpages are very small:
- Characters.Contra The Team: 22,173 characters
- Characters.Contra Hard Corps: 10,281 characters
- Characters.Contra Antagonists: 14,883 characters
This count is before a serious cleanup. Removing zero context, misuse and trope-less folders will knock that down more. This is an open-and-shut case and I'd like to start soon.
Minor nitpick, but am I good to add Zhen to the Kung Fu Panda – Protagonists list? She's the deuteragonist of the fourth movie and I don't know why she was put in 'Other Characters'. For now all I did was add a 'see also' link at the bottom, but it kinda bugs me.
I noticed the formatting of the character page display at the top of Fate/Samurai Remnant: Servants is broken. Clicking on the other pages there shows the display at the top, but if I try to edit those pages and click the preview button it displays them as being broken too. Not sure what's going on there.

I have a glitch, it seems like the entirety of Denis Villeneuve's Dune page has been erased, and yet it's all there when I edit.

After playing with a sandbox copy -
I've been cutting characters one by one, from the bottom of then page, and as soon as all folders after Duncan are removed, it displays.
That suggests a problem with Dr. Yueh's folder, but I'm not seeing anything obvious there.

That glitch usually happens when a note tag isn’t properly closed. I’m on mobile so I can’t do it myself right now, but if you can find an open note tag, that usually solves the problem

And what about the glitch with the Fate/Samurai Remnant page?
Characters without tropes can simply be commented out as ZCes. Once that's done we can judge whether the remaining page is a stub or valid.
