Was interested in the depth of TVTropes and its roleplays. After looking at a bunch of We Are All Pokémon Trainers' pages I ended up thinking this a good while later: what if TVTropes has its own Terraria roleplay inspired by one of its best ones?

This roleplay sees a group of player characters living in a world that follows the mechanics of Terraria. The world spans many different identical planets. Unlike the confined island worlds of canon Terraria, each planet houses a world similar to real life but exudes Terraria in them. The only difference between each world is what assets from Terraria are in it. A world may have only Vanilla, while another follows the assets and feel of Calamity. Currently, the RP will only focus on Vanilla v1.3.5.3 on Expert Mode, but if one were to bring in modded Terraria (tModLoader mods only as of this writing), please bring the idea of another planet to the discussion page so we can see what to do. Like Terraria itself, we do often reference other media other than Terraria as well. Terraria’s Excalibur and other incarnations of Excalibur sharing the same continuity is well within the possibility. The plots range from socializing or exploring many different facets of each planet, or facing off together in a plan to eradicate a new threat.

Like its inspiration, the RP has no GM and people usually create different subplots and control various NPCs (bosses or otherwise), and teamwork is the key to making the RP work.

We welcome many different types of Terraria players. Terrarians who have played v1.3 Terraria and reached Hardmode (PC, XBOX One, PS4, Switch) in-game at least once are the recommendations to join in as a WAAT-er. Creative writing, artistry, etc., and decent knowledge of Terraria is often the rule of thumb but if you’re not so sure on where to start as a new player, then we’ll be glad to help you in the discussion and sign-ups page.

There is a document that details all the rules needed to join and become a verified Trope Terrarian. It is important.

Alright, there's character sheet. Been replaying Terraria as part of a project. Anyway, I'm still a little indecisive on whether to go with Melee or Magic but I'm going with the latter for now.

Still, if there's anything else that needs adding or changing, just let me know.

• Name: Josh Kinglit.
• Class: Magic.
• Age: 20.
• Gender: Male.
• Ethnicity: British/English.

• Race: Human.

• Appearance: Tada. While it's something like this, Josh would be average in height (about 178cm tall) and somewhat lean in terms of build with slightly pale skin and green eyes. His outfit has been hastily patched up with bandages.

• Place of Origin: England. Although if Thorium/Calamity content ends up being added, that might change.

• Affiliation: None as of yet.

• Backstory: The most Josh could remember before his current circumstances was fancying himself as some sort of explorer...or at the very least, trying to think up ideas for gadgets/equipment. Everything else became a complete blank the one morning he found himself lying face down in the dirt, somewhat injured and having very fuzzy grasp on his memories at best...and that wherever he'd woken up, it definitely isn't what he'd consider 'home'. Although he'll reluctantly admit that he's not sure where that is. So given the circumstances, surviving, exploring and making the best of his current situation.

• Starting Inventory: Magic Mirror, Copper Axe, Copper Pickaxe. A Wand of Sparking. Would've picked a Amethyst/Topaz or Sapphire/Emerald Staff but that'd likely be bit harder to justify given the materials needed despite it being Blue Tier.

Name: Rena Marston

Appearance: A hybridization of the design element of Sakura Wars' Gemini Sunrise◊ and Fate's Billy the Kid◊ with added traditional Wild West details. Does not wear a hat and has a tan cropped jacket over a maize blouse. Wears light and vivid-colored leather chaps over a pair of denim jeans. Boots are wide-lipped and are realistically proportioned. Hair is light blonde and in a ponytail.

Place of Origin: Texas, United States

Affiliation: Not applicable yet.

Backstory: Once a girl living with her family of mostly cowboys in a modern world, she found herself here in the world of Terraria lost in a desert. Back at home, she was considered midway between socialized and isolated. Now that she is stuck in a new place, she deducts she arrived in a place that looked like home but did not feel like it. Unlike her home, this "Texas" was much less developed and overrun with antlions. Her first instinct was to open fire, but with no gun, she was defenseless until she found refuge in a lone farmhouse, where she got her Flintlock Pistol. She is currently exploring the world of Terraria trying to find people who went through a similar and unfortunate experience.

Starting Inventory: Magic Mirror, Copper Axe, Copper Pickaxe, Flintlock Pistol

Her starting weapon reinforces her main proficiency with guns, and I felt that the Red Ryder did not suit her theme. A Flintlock Pistol was suitable due to its mundane design and neutral feel especially when compared to The Undertaker's bloody coat of paint. It would have been harder justifying another gun due to price, availability, crafting requirement, or requiring a visit to a hostile location (Corruption/Crimson).

Appearance: Laura is extremely pale, what with being a vampire. She is quite tall and scrawny. She has red eyes and messy black curly hair. She wears a loose, dark magenta turtleneck sweater and navy tracksuit bottoms with pink trainers.

Place of origin: Southwest England

Affiliation: None yet

Backstory: Laura grew up relatively normally, albeit with her family of vampires. Without a parasol or something else to block out the sun, she can only go out at night or during a solar eclipse. When she arrived in terraria, she rushed to take refuge in the nearest cave. Whilst wandering around in said cave, she absent-mindedly stepped on a boulder trap. Diving out of the way in the nick of time, the boulder instead killed a slime, which dropped a staff. She decided to try and use the staff, and after running from the ensuing baby slime for a while, she realised that the slime could fight stuff for her. Being rather lazy, she decided to hide out in an underground cabin near the surface where she had found a magic mirror in the chest until something noteworthy happens.

I'm not going to say too much for just one small update but this roleplay still needs one more player character before it officially begins.

Still waiting on one more player to join the three characters already created for the RP. I wonder how that "post drought" is holding up for the others?

Heeey, there's a Terraria roleplay on here? Funny, I just got back into the game and started an Expert Mode playthrough on console. I'll jump in if this is still going on.

Hopefully the sheet's alright, I wrote it up in kind of a rush.

• Name: "Nieue"
• Class: Melee
• Age: Physically appears to be 18-19—is actually younger than 1
• Gender: Male
• Ethnicity: N/A
• Race: Artificial intelligence, though he doesn't know it himself
• Appearance: Basically, the appearance of Honebami Toushirou with similar attire to 9S. Fair-haired and grey-eyed, with an equally pale complexion. While Nieue looks identical to a human in almost every way, he has a few overtly robotic features, such as seams where they shouldn't be (in the vein of a Mannequin). Wears an open black buttoned overcoat with pleated tails and a buckled sash, along with laced combat boots. Style #4, if you will.
  What looks like a modified blindfold slings over his left eye, leaving him sightless in it for the cost of being able to see odd algorithms beyond the normal scope of reality^note i.e, he can see his own HUD, nothing else though.

• Affiliation: None yet.
• Backstory: Nieue doesn't remember much about his past, if he even really has much of one—all he can really recall is the sound of distant, but strangely familiar voices, labcoats, and faded memories of being trapped inside a void filled only with endless strings of 1's and 0's.
  When he first woke up, he found himself in a completely new dimension than from everything he'e previously known. Filled with wide plains of grass and unusually-shaped trees, the world he just arrived in seemed downright limitless—and he felt inexplicably, but instinctively drawn to exploring it.
  That was when a creature made of slime hopped up to him. Out of curiosity, Nieue touched the small creature, only to immediately hurt himself and panic. While running away from the Slime, he happened to stumble across the mouth of a cave.
  Walking deeper into the tunnels, the boy discovered a large underground system, populated by a few more of the Slimes and a...Salamander? It spat poison at him, and in his haste to get away from it he didn't look where he was going; setting off an explosive trap and getting knocked a good distance to the side.
  Surprised he wasn't already dead, Nieue hesitantly returned to the destroyed crater, and discovered a weaponised yoyo where the Salamander once was. Accompanied by his new gear and a little bit unnerved by the chain of events, he set out to explore the world again—and maybe not just run around in circles until he dies this time.

Appearance: A caucasian of above-average height with brown eyes and black hair. Karl wears a black hoodie with a navy t-shirt underneath, grey sweatpants, and blue tennis shoes. He usually has a neutral expression representing a poker face.

Place of Origin: America

Affiliation: None at the moment.

Backstory: As a younger kid, Karl developed a love for hunting, and even went through an edgy phase where he learned how to fire guns that could be used on things other than just animals. He woke up in a forest in Terraria and took refuge in a small shed that contained the Red Ryder that he really wishes he had bullets for and is currently searching for others who are in a situation similar to his that are willing to cooperate.

Starting Inventory: Red Ryder, Magic Mirror, Copper Axe, Copper Pickaxe.

Hey, didn't know you decided to join. Ranged weapon class characters do not start out with ammunition, but luckily there's an Arms Dealer available.

Edit: A bit awkward having two gunslingers in the RP but hopefully we'll work with that in mind.

You can keep your Red Ryder if you want. I won't judge.

If you want to switch away, you could, but I'm not sure what would best suit your character. It's up to you.
