Not Thriving: Millitary Rank Superhero Villain Names

In at least 8 years, Millitary-Rank Superhero/villain Names has gained over 3,000 inbounds, but only 9 wicks. This probably has something to do with the subtly-misspelled title: "military" is spelled with two Ls in the title. Normally, I'd go through other channels to ask for this name change, but as long as it's being renamed anyway, I'd like to suggest an entirely new title, Military Rank Names, because I think that the current title is too long. Thoughts?

3000 inbounds seem pretty good, I think the problem was the lack of Crosswicking. Opening anyway for the typo in the title.

I say simply correct the typo and crosswick. I think the superhero/supervillain criteria makes it its own trope in a way Military Rank Names wouldn't. I could be wrong, though.

[up] I agree. And we could keep the mis-spelling as a redirect.

I agree with the idea of fixing the spelling and crosswicking. We'll probably need a crowner to decide whether the new name either just fixes the spelling error or shortens the name to Military Rank Names.

The consensus so far actually don't agree with shortening the title, only moving the page to Military Rank Superhero Villain Names and Cross Wicking the examples.

[up]Fair enough. I'm actually with the majority in thinking fixing the spelling is enough when it comes to changing the name.

Edit: Wouldn't examples for characters with actual military ranks being referred to by said ranks potentially be People Sit on Chairs, at least if the characters aren't also superheroes/villains? For example, one on-page ZCE is for Lt. Surge from Pokémon, who's an actual lieutenant and not a superhero or villain, and the games don't emphasize his rank as much as the reason he has the rank (being a war veteran, in this case).

At the very least, if this trope is for characters having the titles just for the sake of it, such as due to Rule of Cool, instead of because they were actually in the military, realistic usage of ranks as titles wouldn't count. (Other tropes may apply, though. For example, the image caption for People Sit on Chairs points out tropes that apply, while stating that merely sitting on a chair isn't one of them.)

Okay, move is done.

Not much wicks to go through, thankfully, though crosswicking would also be nice.

Took care of the wicks from the old name, but will keep the thread going for a little bit in case someone wants to help with some more crosswicking. Feel free to run through the example list for more crosswick candidates.

The list of works that are already crosswicked:

  • New wicks for character sheets:
    • Captain Atom
    • Dexter's Laboratory
    • Madagascar
    • Pokémon
  • New wicks for work pages:
    • Commander Keen
    • Sgt Slaughter
  • Wicks moved from old name:
    • Major Bummer
    • Astounding Wolf Man
    • Youngblood
    • Minilife TV

Time to finally close. I may make this a side project once I've taken care of some other cleanup efforts (or if I decide to take a break from those).
