I'd rather not join the Discord if you don't mind.

Sorry, but most of the RP OOC communication will be taking place on the Discord, as discussion threads are basically useless in this day and age. I explicitly mentioned this in the signup thread. Could you make an exception, by any chance?

There is now an open slot available. If anyone wants to join the insanity, now would be a good time.

  • Name: Asmodeus
  • Age: 666, fittingly.
  • Species, Sex and Place of Origin: A female demon princess from Hell (OC).
  • Appearance: Here.
  • Party Niche: Wizard, with some Diplomat potential I guess.
  • Powers and Abilities:
    • Charm: In addition to being pretty enough to get what she wants most of the time, she also has genuine magic on her side to manipulate people into following her orders. The stipulations are that her target has to hear the order, she can’t make someone do something suicidal/kill their friend/blatantly break deeply held moral convictions, and the higher their personal willpower, the more likely it is they can ignore the order.
    • Flight: Those wings aren’t just for show.
    • Haste: Pretty straightforward. Makes the allies she uses it on much faster.
    • Barrier: She can create a magical barrier to protect herself and her allies. Of course, sufficient force will shatter it.
    • Heal: Azzie can heal non-major wounds from herself and her allies.
    • Elemental Powers/Blasts: Azzie can fire blasts of energy with the power of ice, fire, or lightning. She can fire off multiple blasts at the same time.
    • Illusion: Asmodeus can create fake visions and sounds to fool others. Any single thing she projects with this can’t be bigger than a 10 foot cube. She can also apply this to herself to change the way others perceive her.
    • Resilience: She doesn’t have a lot of physical strength, but she can take a wallop and keep on going.
  • Starting Equipment:
    • Magic Book: A simple magic book to keep track of spells and whatnot on her adventure.
  • Personality: Even amongst demons, Asmodeus is remarkably hedonistic. Contrary to the sin of lust she represents, she doesn’t just like sex. She enjoys all manner risky, dangerous behavior, as well as harmless flirting. She is also not afraid to throw out some sass when it is warranted, and when is it ever not?
  • Motive: To have fun, meet new people, and possibly create a world of debauchery? You know, normal stuff™.
Notes: Nothing much, really.

@HilarityEnsues: Sorry, but we already have at least four people with some form of rogue/fighter aesthetic. Any chance of another archetype?

Sure, though I'll need to choose a new character in that case. Would a magic user or a psychic work?

Magic would work perfectly fine. I'd like to limit psychic powers, as they are. smile

Alright, so I stuck with a very similar theme, but decided to edit my signup and go for an OC that fit a wizard archetype. Let me know if it's acceptable.

@HilarityEnsues: Looking good! Just one thing - I'd like to actually buff her offensive capabilities slightly, maybe add a bit of utility. At the moment, we have a Fighter with plasma generation skills and a magical hat with various magic resistances. You can actually slot a few more spells in there if you want. smile

Well for what it's worth, Garbhán is seriously underpowered and probably isn't much practical use, as most of the rest have supernatural powers and he just has skill, wits and a little big gun to fall back on. Eheh.

I still exist. Been checking back daily too. Lemme double check my discord ID and resend it - if that doesn't work and you still don't hear from me just drop an instant invite in my PM box on here.

EDIT: Or, failing that I'm too used to the old big green banner for P Ms. That could be the problem too.

  • Name: Pepper

  • Age: 20

  • Species: Fennec fox

  • Sex: Female

  • Place of origin: A futuristic version of Brightmarsh

  • Appearance: She is literally the Opposite Gender Clone of Pip but from an alternate dimension.

  • Party Niche: Healer and flank

  • Powers and Abilities:

    • Alchemy: Pepper can make healing and explosive potions on the fly, but unlike Pip, she uses actual real-life science to make them.

  • Starting Equipments:

    • Remix Retroblaster: A potion launcher that launches explosive potions. Appearance here
    • Explosive potions: Ammo for the Remix Retroblaster. They explode on impact and deal damage to enemies through the combination of explosion and glass shrapnel
    • Healing potions: Allows Pepper and her allies to be healed by breathing in its fumes
    • Weightlessness potion: Allows Pepper to temporarily jump higher so as to escape from enemies more easily
    • Chicken potion: Allows Pepper to turn enemies into chickens
    • Music player and headphones: Pepper can't leave the house without her trusty music player and headphones

  • Personality: Although Pepper is just as inquisitive as Pip when it comes to creating special potion recipes, she is also a huge party girl, as she loves dance music and video games a lot. This is easily shown by the fact that she never leaves her home without her portable music player, headphones and sunglasses and her casual use of gaming lingos.

  • Motive: Some say that The Orb can grant anyone a huge knowledge in whatever subjects that they want to learn, and that it can also grant anyone powers. All we know is, Pepper is in the Mausoleum as she heard that the orb can grant her knowledge in new Science topics for her new potion recipes.

  • Note: Pepper is literally the Opposite Gender Clone of Pip from an alternate dimension in Paladins, so I don't know if that is allowed or not.

Ah, what the hey. I'll bite!

  • Name: Bard
  • Age: 18
  • Species, Sex and Place of Origin: Human Male from, uh, there wasn't a name given for it, so let's just call it Eyane
  • Appearance: Just a silly singer.
  • Party Niche: (Emotional/Moral) Support
  • Powers and Abilities:
    • Singing: Yeah, that's about it. True to his rather appropriate name, Bard can sing, all day, every day, and pretty dang well to boot. Just don't expect Bard to be doing much else. However, despite the fact that the only thing he can actually do is sing, the tunes he belts out have a smattering of magic to them. He won't be slinging spells anytime soon, but he CAN use his singing to...
      • strengthen, control, and counteract existing magic
      • affect magical environments and mechanisms
      • communicate and dispel ghosts and spirits
      • recruit helpful animals
  • Starting Equipment: Nothing but the clothes on his back.
  • Personality: Happy-go-lucky and optimistic to a fault, Bard is an extremely friendly and cheerful kid. He wants nothing more than to sing, for the world to live in peace. Even when life tries to crumble his views, Bard always faces his troubles with a smile and song on his lips. Bard might be a bit too naive, though; he's a pacifist to the fullest extent, adhering to a non-violent code unless it's an absolute last resort. Under the surface of happiness and fun, Bard is fairly insecure. Things bug him, a lot, especially those which threaten his optimism and his worth. But he tries hard to keep his spirits up, even superficially, pushing his negative thoughts to the back of his mind. It's easy to be happy! Or, it should be.
  • Motive: Bard doesn't know what this Orb is, or does, but he's pretty sure that something as powerful to be named with a capital O would have a lot of juice in it. Maybe enough juice to keep his world alive forever!
  • Notes: The color wheel in the picture above corresponds to the notes Bard sings. It's all weird game stuff, but just for fun, here's what the colors mean!

Alright, so after consulting with my players, I have a few things I'd like to bring up.

1) Based on the experience of some of my players, you tend to leave RPs quickly after joining them, with some related drama. I recall the quick leaving in A Game of Gods: Terminus, but not the drama; nonetheless, the complaint still stands.

2) Because I have a 'no-drama' clause, I would prefer not to accept someone who could potentially cause drama, regardless of whose side the fault actually lies on. This isn't so much your problem per se, as you haven't actually done anything to me personally yet - I'd just prefer not to upset the balance we already have. Think of it as a personality conflict, if you wish, rather than anything on your part. Some people just don't gel.

3) Less importantly, I also have a 'please be committed' clause, which isn't actually that important because it's an internet RP but is still kinda important. This is subordinate to the second reason.

4) Because of that, the balance is heavily weighed against your being accepted.

I'd like to emphasize that because I've barely interacted with you (I recall your handle and I've seen you around, but I left AGoG a while ago), I don't have any grudges against or even any particular dislike for you. This is simply a decision based on the opinion of players whom I know and respect. Sorry about that, and you're welcome to PM me if you want to talk it over.

  • Name: Ferem Ose Kalea
  • Age: 20
  • Species, Sex and Place of Origin: Human, Infernal Exalt. Female. Creation, Northern Threshold, Cherak. (Or in plainer terms, an OC from the world of Exalted, specifically a city-state in the near north.)
  • Appearance: Kalea is a tall and slender woman. A beauty with auburn hair, winning smile and fair complexion. On account of the process which saw her exalt, the tips of her hair are constantly flickering with gentle flames that grow more intense when she's agitated.
  • Party Niche: Diplomat, bard.
  • Powers and Abilities: (Because of how Exalted works I'll list her abilities first and powers second. She's also a bit of a generalist.)
    • Melee and archery: More or less as stated, she knows how to handle such swords and bows well enough that if you give her time to line up her shot she could likely hit a bull's eye in an archery range. Nothing more impressive than that though.
    • Integrity: Kalea can resist supernatural mental influences, as well as more mundane things like torture or shady sales pitches.
    • Performance: Kalea's an accomplished dancer and singer. Thanks to her unwoven coadjutor she knows many dances only practiced in hell.
    • Survival: Kalea's good enough at surviving in the wilds that she can hunt, shelter and keep herself and one other person alive in most circumstances, unless the area is absolutely inhospitable to living things.
    • Craft (Wood): To borrow medieval guild parlance, Kalea's a journeyman carpenter, and could likely make you a small skiff or a decent wooden house if given some time and the right equipment and materials.
    • Lore and Occult: Kalea has a good general understanding of the history of her world, as well as the more supernatural aspects. Owing to her having spent the last four years of her life in hell, she also knows more than most how the Demon City works and functions and how demons themselves work and function.
    • Riding: Kalea's quite skilled with horses and other animals commonly used to transport people, and can calm a horse in stressful situations.
    • Sailing: By the same token, Kalea knows how to handle boats and ships quite well, and navigation in her world.
  • Powers
    • Oathbinding: Oath-givers who break pacts sanctified by Kalea (including herself) are subject to a terrible curse. The details of the curse are devised by the GM, ideally reflecting the oath broken. A woman who breaks a hospitality oath might find herself incapable of rest beneath any roof for a year and a day, while a man who murdered the one he swore to protect may find his defenses utterly failing him when he must next fight for his life.
    • Loom-Snarling Deception: This charm lets Kalea assume the form of an individual she's imagined, so long as they have the same overall body plan as herself, giving her the physical traits of whomever she's imagined. This will fool magical senses as well, if her imagined person is some nobody with no powers whatsoever, that is how she will appear to anyone examining her. Per Troy's objections, won't work on entities orders above herself.
    • Transcendent Desert Creature: Kalea suffers no penalties from desolate places like deserts or tundra. Things like blizzards or sandstorms will not disorient her, blind her, nor harm her. Hunger and thirst are inconveniences that weaken her, but cannot kill her so long as she remains within a place of desolation. She's also extremely good at foraging and finding food in such places.
    • Sands Through Fingers Defence: A defensive charm, this lets Kalea avoid any attack she sees coming at the expense of some essence. As the attack should connect, it merely knocks a random spray of sand from the character's body as she dematerializes and rematerializes around it. As mentioned, an attack she is unaware of cannot be avoided in this manner.
    • Invasive Exteroception Technique: This charm lets Kalea extend her sense of touch a total of 30 yards, or about 27 metres, in all directions. This lets her sense tactile details within that range. It ignores physical barriers like walls or flesh, permitting her to be as intrusive as she likes. It can be opposed by anti-scrying magic or something analogous, but will otherwise be undetectable.
    • Wind-Born Stride: This is a permanent enhancement like TDC above. It lets Kalea run, swim, climb or otherwise move more quickly, and it makes crossing difficult terrain a non-issue to her.
    • First Ebon Dragon Excellency - Essence Overwhelming: This is a bit of general skill. By channeling essence, Kalea can enhance her competence in any activity that falls within the Ebon Dragon's portfolio. The Ebon Dragon is corrupt and without conscience, seductive and self-indulgent. He cheats and lies, yet can act with enlightened self-interest. He chafes and struggles against all restraints to himself, literal or metaphorical. He antagonises as a matter of course. As long as Kalea acts within this paradigm, she can supernaturally enhance all her actions at the expense of essence.
  • Staring equipment:
    • A caustic short sword, enhanced with the power of vitriol to corrode all it strikes.
  • Personality: Kalea is, on the whole, polite and easy-going. She's also bitter over her past failures and conflicted about her role in the world. Raised in a culture that would consider what she is now to be Anathema, something to be killed on sight, she is struggling to reconcile this with the potential power given to her and the seeming ability she has to mend her home. She dearly wants to see her siblings succeed on paths now barred to herself, but has little idea how to approach them openly without being quickly struck down. So she remains in hell for the time being.
  • Motive: Potential freedom from the Lords and Ladies of Hell, not that she really minds working for them, but the Mausoleum is an opportunity to go somewhere beyond their reach and perhaps find some answers as to what she should be doing with her life.
  • Note: Kalea's essence pool is 14 personal essence and 35 peripheral essence. Spent essence regenerates at 1 per hour usually, 2 when resting, and 4 when sleeping. Other external factors, such as the existence of a cult or cults devoted to Kalea, can further increase her essence gain, depending on the size of the cult in question.
    • Kalea hosts within her mind her Unwoven Coadjutor, which is the remnant of the demon that first offered her the Infernal Exaltation. It is completely unable to interact with the world, and is restricted to offering Kalea advice and knowledge in her head. The demon in question is a gilmyne who goes by the name Osana.

The main question I have is one of essence: how much essence will she have to expend in order to use these abilities, which are quite substantial? The disguise ability will be actively limited to beings less powerful than herself; beings of a higher order will naturally be able to pierce the veil.

EDIT: Also, Factual Determination Analysis is a no-go, for the same reason that Moko's universal telepathy was a no-go.
