Do it with caution. Bumping a few-months-old thread is safer than bumping a few-years-old thread. I mean, there’s a reason they died.

I'd say a few years-old thread now and then is fine, if it's really old though (such as last post 2013-2014 or so, or older) it might be better to start a new thread
Oh, and RPs/ITTs/text adventures and similar, and anything requiring the OP to still be active or the same group of players to participate, is better left unbumped for obvious reasons

The aim of this game is simple: We will talk about a subject until one of two things happens. 1. We run out of things to talk about. 2. Someone posts that "This is now a _____ Thread", akin to the "This is now a Spiderman thread" gag from the old days of the interwebs.
Then, we start talking about the new thing. If it is Option 1, then the first one to post will automatically do a post that fulfills Option 2.
