She's saying "Thank you for rescuing me" and then instead of kissing her like Mario might Princess Peach, Wario throws her off-screen. Without the text, it just looks like she's standing there and then gets thrown.
So yes the text is important.
Also the current could stand to be 300 px wide? I've no idea why it's so thin.
