This thread refers to the "Our avatars are in a room together" thread. General thread information:

• OCs and canon characters are both permitted, as long as you have an avatar of them.
• This thread is always open to new players!
• We have no affiliation with We Are Our Avatars (though their thread is worth checking out as well) or any subsets.
• We’re not related to any other “Our Avatars are in [x]” threads, except...
  • The Our Avatars Were In A Room Together (Called the RP by most players) thread is a spinoff of this one, but it is presently unavailable for new players due to player overflow. Sorry!

The premise is pretty much what the title says: said avatars are in a room, in a house in the middle of nowhere surrounded by a forest. The official explanation is "pocket dimension", but it isn’t super important. We focus strongly on character interaction. Basically, a sandbox, but with slightly more structure than that, and the occasional overarching "story arc", which is typically a localised affair.

Here is a list of locations, though we’d generally appreciate if you could keep things centered near the namesake room so things don’t get confusing!

If you haven’t already done so, read the TV Tropes RP rules before you proceed. Everything that applies there will also apply here. There are some rules that we feel you should be made aware of as well! Namely:

• Please respect the wishes of other players. If someone has a major issue with something you’re doing, please take that into account! We’re all here to have fun, after all.
• This is meant to be a freeform, sandbox RP without overarching plot! That’s not to say that you can’t have character arcs and adventures with your characters, but please try to keep in mind that not everyone always wants to participate in a particular event!
• Please no godmodding!
  • Something to note: It's only godmodding if you say, for instance, "X turns into a brick", you say, "no they don't", and the other player continues to force the issue. No-sell anything you don't feel like going through with, and let the GM know if another player is making you uncomfortable in any way.
• Do your best to keep characters with a canon source in-character (IC). If you have headcanons or an alternate universe interpretation of a character in mind, that’s great! Just make sure to keep your character, whoever they may be, internally consistent, so you don’t get an avowed vegan taking a bite out of a cow or something silly like that.
• Please avoid sexually graphic or provocative content in your posts. It makes people uncomfortable and isn’t in line with forum rules! We have had minors partake in this game in the past, so be respectful of them and their needs.
• Please try not to be rude! We want a welcoming and safe environment for all and don’t tolerate harassment or bullying of other players. If you take issue with something someone else is doing, either inform them in a respectful way or let the GM know about it.
• You have to have an avatar of your character to play them! You don’t have to be using that avatar when posting in the thread, but you have to have it in your gallery, at least!

Above all, use your good judgement. Please don’t be a rules-lawyer. It’s about the spirit of the rules, not the letter.

in any case, we did dig up some good reference for sheets to look at, to edit off of for. we recommend taking a look at these two sheets in particular for what you might want to add. fox and convoy have been accepted and the information they've provided should give you a consistent basis of the content we seek in an application sheet.

i hope that helps you see what sort of content we're looking for, just edit your sheet so far, then post again when you're done and we'll take a second look at it!

• Personality: Nick-tan, being the embodiment of Nickelodeon in human form, reflects the company in interesting ways. She's clumsy, referencing it's less then agreed on decisions overtime. She's athletic, because of the hyper-active nature of her programming. She's also very childish and pure, since she's supposed to be entertaining for children. On top of this, she also has a very big obsession with nostalgic cartoons, since many people say Nick's older shows are some of the best and even Nickelodeon itself seems to know that. She can also be rather awkward at times.
• Abilities:Nick-Tan doesn't really have any major abilities, but due to being a representation of Nickelodeon's type of animation, Nick-Tan is very flexible, almost to contortionist levels. Along with this, she has a decent understanding of cable business as the leader of one of the most popular children's cartoon channels ever.
• Misc: Worth mentioning she has a younger baby sister named Nick Jr, and a dog named The Splat.

Appearance: this guy

Personality: Despite his age Twindle's very much still a little kid. He likes to draw with crayons, is scared of the dark and of doctors, and when he's happy he hums to himself. There's also a high chance that he'll do horrible things if you upset him, though he's quick to forgive and all that's needed to stop him is a simple "I'm sorry." He also hates birds and tends to pet people.

Abilities: Can teleport, minor reality warping powers that he mostly just uses to make stuff appear out of thin air, and while he can die it's never permanent.

Is this fine?

Your sign-up looks pretty good for the most part, though one area in particular raises some concern.

Twindle's reality-warping powers, while not necessarily out of line with what characters in this RP are permitted to do, aren't the best fit for a first character in an RP like this. I'd suggest you either you leave this bit out entirely for the time being, or consider signing up with a different character for now.

Could I ask what makes you say that? If there's something wrong with it I'll do something else but i don't exactly understand what the issue is. He's not going to be altering time space or anything like that.

The reason his abilities concern me is that they exist in the context of his child-like mentality. The wording in this part of his personality blurb in particular is what I'm thinking of in particular.

If you wouldn't mind clarifying, how easily upset is he? What kind of horrible things in particular would he do? Not trying to be obstinate or anything, I just want to clear this up before we go further. Thank you for working with me thus far.

Heard I could try and rejoin this so I thought "Eh, why not try it?" So there you go.

• Name: Johann Antonio Vale (Nicknamed Jo)
• Source: OC but he is previously from a RWBY RP so AU RWBY I imagine.

• Appearance:Fuck Your Lab Safety I Want Superpowers

• Personality: Johann is odd. His core philosophy in life can be clumsily described as "FOR SCIENCE" though he can be actually disgusted by overly immoral acts meant for research even if it doesn't show with some of the things he does. Johann loves to tinker, to experiment, to see what makes everything in this world work. He's boundlessly curious, and incredibly enthusiastic. He wants to see everything, know everything. Though even if he is absorbed in science, he cares about his own responsibilities a lot, and never likes to let the people he cares about down in serious things. Socially, Johann is about as subtle as a brick to the face. Although he's friendly and kind, he's also tactless and completely blunt with everything he says. Johann is always thinking, and comes off as an airhead at times, and sometimes he takes his work so far that he forgets about everything else added to those frustrations is a tiny attention span that can be very annoying to deal with.
• Abilities
  • D.R.I. : Intialism for "Deconstruction. Reconstruction. Ignition." Johann can break apart the covalent bonds of gaseous compounds in the air and reconstruct them as another compound, specifically, the Carbon in the air and the Hydrogen of the water vapor into Methane form, with the amount of Methane controllable by Jo. Said Methane explodes on the spot as soon as it fully forms. Sending flames and, obviously hazardous explosions onto the vicinity. Much to the chagrin of Johann's enemies, and sometimes his allies as well.
  • Macguyvering: Jo has the ability to create makeshift gadgets, tools, chemical reactions, whatever you'd like, basically on the fly, and he usually carries handy "Tools" (Read: Dangerous weapons) for protection and most other occasions.
  • Superhuman Strength: Johann despite being a big geek for science, has a well-trained body, and is capable of lifting pretty big objects, including giant swords (think Gut's "Dragon Slayer" from Berserk) entire beds and basically most things that aren't a building. He's an effective fighter as well and has dealt with hordes of monsters by himself.

eyyyyy evening, mate.

taking a look at this i'm not seeing anything out of the ordinary for a rwby character (semblance, quirky weirdness, etc) and he seems pretty ok for a rwby game. however, we're a little concerned as the personality is not antisocial but we're not quite sure it will fit for a game about social interaction. could you explain out, in more detail, how he acts and reacts to others with all of that in mind? we do want to give you the chance to show us what he's like before we make any solid decisions.

I'm not sure I fully get the question but I'll try to answer.

Considering he's probably gonna see weird aliens and supernatural entities he's bound to react to them with fascination and curiosity. Asking everything they know about their own biology techology and culture though not experimenting on them or doing something to breach like their privacy or something.

He also has a thing for bad puns and weird jokes that don't make much sense. Often telling people things ( not insults mind you more asking for opinions on something outrageous or stupid) just to see their reactions.

That's a general outlook but you know this stuff kind of depends on who he's talking with in specific.

Personality: Rude, Obnoxious, Foul-Mouthed, but Loyal to a fault to his friends. Also the life of the party and anyone who disagrees with his pipes skills can kiss his kilted kiester. He's also a really cool guy once you get to know him. The best way to know him, is through his stomach. Though a good spar with him is also a nice way to earn his friendship.

He values skill and also loves his wife to a fault. He's like an acquired taste of whiskey: It tastes bitter at first, but with one or two chugs, you won't find a more tasty brew.

The Scotsman also has a strong bond with his friend Samurai Jack, who he always challenges to tests of skill and might, no matter how many times the Scotsman might lose, he is always up for a challenge and a bit of friendly sport. From tossing logs to relay runs, he loves the feeling of besting someone, but also of just the sport of it all in general.

When he's traveling, he finds comfort in playing his bagpipes, even if he is practically tone deaf to how bad he is, he loves the music he makes and even will play for free if someone asks him to. Just be ready to praise him, or he'll likely give you the evil eye and stomp off. That or punch ya through the wall. But that's only when he's in a bad mood. So no insulting his pipes' skills.

Abilities (Can be either skills or powers): None. Though he does have a machine gun peg leg and a magical sword. Somehow though, he is immune to Siren music, thinking it sounding like "Someone's steppin' on a lot of cats".

character sheet looks good, but a little sparse. it's not obvious but we're a bit familiar with the character and want to make sure you've got a good handle on him: nothing personal, and we know the scotsman is a good guy, but as you've filled it out yourself, he's a rough-around-the-edges sort of chap and while not a villain, we tend to discourage antagonistic characters (i.e, rude assholes) when first playing. we're not saying you can't play him, but if you would be willing to fill the sheet out a bit more, we'll probably be a bit more comfortable with letting him in as your first character.
