Complaining: Insane Forgiveness

The name sounds like criticizing the characters for their forgiveness - definitively counts towards the "unnecessarily subjective" point in Everything You Wanted to Know About Changing Names, considering that it's spiteful sounding but the trope was not intended as an YMMV, despite the "Most viewers will be left scratching their head" and mention of Moral Event Horizon in the description.

My solution is a trope rename and the removal of the bits mentioned above from the description. Opinions?

Opening solely for a description rewrite. There is no case for a rename here, I'd say, seeing as nothing in the name implies that it is subjective.

Not seeing any meaningful distinction from Easily Forgiven. Just merge and redirect.

The difference is which character it applies to, the one forgiving or the one being forgiven. Clearly different.

It's just Easily Forgiven

Having a separate trope for A forgives B for no reason and B is forgiven by A for no reason is pointless.

I support a merge, unless a meaningful distinction is found.

Health sure is versatile. It's possible to be both light-headed and dim-witted. At the same time, no less.

[up][up][up] That's a good distinction.

I'd say we rework/clarify this trope is about where one's willingness to forgive is treaded as a flaw (it backfires on them, those they forgive betray them in turn or they get called out on it...wait, I see this trope seems like a ill-defined mash-up of preexisting tropes at this point, there's the problem). A clearer definition, and maybe a rename to clarify it applies to the one doing the forgiving, seems in order.

We can also merge, since it's just Easily Forgiven combined with other tropes (at best) and extra room for complaining.

The distinction in 4 isn't the whole picture. Easily Forgiven is a situation where the character is forgiven, but the trope covers those ramifications that apply to the forgiven party. Insane Forgiveness covers those ramifications that apply to the forgiving party.

I'm not making an argument for or against merging, just pointing out that they aren't distinguished solely from a grammatical standpoint (one being an actor and the other being a patient).

Bump.

[tup] for merging since the difference between tropes are redundant with existing tropes (The Farmer and the Viper, What the Hell, Hero?), so I see nothing worth saving. Can we get a crowner for this please?

It's been three days with 13 votes being made, and there's a 5.50:1 ratio (11 yays, 2 nays). Hollering for an official call or other comment.

I suppose I'm too late to say this but how about the trope being an In-Universe only reaction or a YMMV?

[up] Too late, yes. That aside, how can it be made not to be complaining? If we want to rework this trope into something, that should be kept in mind.
