Played the demo as soon as it came out. Just couldn't be bothered to talk about it here until now.
Did anyone else get pissed off at Yusufa's death? Because I certainly did. I was looking forward to watching their relationship go places but nope!
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I don't know if it pissed me off, but it was the only part of Primrose's story that struck me as poorly written. I hope my last words aren't a rapid series of cliches.
I found myself wondering if I could've prevented her death by having her done with me, or finding another road out of town, or stealing the map in the night, or something.
I have a message from another time...It seemed like something that needed to happen for the sake of plot. The game's premise requires that Primrose set out on a solo journey, but there would be no excuse to not take Yusufa with her if she'd lived. I was expecting her to either die or be revealed as manipulating Prim to get ahead. I definitely agree that they laid it on way too thick and made it rather Narmy, though.
The style reminds me of Golden Sun crossed with Bravely Default or 2D Final Fantasy. I can't believe I forgot there was a demo available.
Played the demo, though still haven't done the dancer path. Anyway, loved it. Do we have any idea of a release date? This year, next year, anything?
No clue, but unless they focused on getting what's in the demo ready and everything else is a total mess, I'll say we should have news on the release date sometime in the next 6 months.
Will the transhumanist future have catgirls? Does Japan still exist? Well, there is your answer. — UnknownI hope they add cutscene skips and either speed up menus or allow us to change the cursor speed.
Can never go wrong with quality of life improvements like that.
"But if that happened, Melia might actually be happy. We can't have that." - Handsome RobI'd been meaning to try the demo for a while, but only just got around to it. I didn't especially like Bravely Default, and I was a bit wary since this game is made by the same team, but the concept looked interesting enough to be worth a shot.
Started with Primrose. The subject matter thus far is incredibly uncomfortable, but it's written well enough that it doesn't come across as tasteless. I couldn't beat the boss the first time, so I'm going to go back and try to prepare better. I didn't use Allure on anyone before I went into the catacombs, so maybe it'll help to have someone else with me. Not sure exactly what that does, but I guess I'll find out.
My impressions are positive so far. I love the visual style, for one thing. The battle system is a little like Bravely Default, but it's not a carbon copy or anything. Hard to say whether it'll get boring later or not, but I guess that depends on how strategic it expects you to be. I want to finish both parts of the demo before I make any final judgements, but I'm definitely interested. I'll probably give the full game a try when it's out.
A new illustration from the official twitter, interesting is that the characters have things behind them which hint on their classes.
The girl with the hat also has "Thanks for your patronage" standing next to her which pretty much confirms that she is a Merchant..
If I were to make guesses, from clockwise:
- Top right is clearly a merchant. I bet she can haggle at shops and trade with NPC's.
- Then it's Primrose. No question there.
- Book boi(?) could be a magic user or just a scholar. Maybe something related to books or information for their specialty action?
- The girl I have no clue, unless the crown at the bottom is related to her, not just a fancy border for the picture. So a princess. No idea what her field action would be, other then demanding people treat her like a princess?
- Dude next to her is either an herbalist or alchemist. Again, I am at a loss about potential field action.
- The kid is a thief. Locks and keys? Yup, totes a Master of Unlocking. Are all field actions NPC related, because if not...
- Olberic.
- KITTY! Beastmaster archetype, for sure. Maybe there will be animals in the overworld you can tame?
Give me the option to play the whole game as a merchant without ever engaging in combat.
Prim appears to be glowing?
I have a message from another time...I need to get back to that. Kinda wish there was a version for Nintendo Switch; it'd be very nice portable.
I have a message from another time...Based on earlier illustrations where we see Miss Possible Princess wearing white robes and carrying a staff I assume she's a healer.
I was very surprised at the dark themes in Primrose's story. It's not the first time a Square-Enix game has touched on that sort of thing, but this was a lot more blatant and disturbing than they usually get.
A video of stuff that will be changed based on feedback to the demo.
A translation of the video is here. And yes, there is a scene skip now.

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectThe faster movement, text speed options and improved visiblity sure were needed.
Sometimes I tried to get to places that looked like you should, but couldn't, löl.
English version of the update video.
The video was already English subtitled. Does this add anything new from that video?

Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectNot quite sticking with it, they just dropped the "Project" part. I have mixed feeling about that.
Will the transhumanist future have catgirls? Does Japan still exist? Well, there is your answer. — UnknownI'm aware. I meant as in the general name of it is basically the same.

I wish you could see how much health enemies have left.
