I don't think a reboot of The Magic School Bus is an inherently bad idea. It's always been an edutainment show and there's probably some outdated science in the original episodes.
Outside of the standard reboot concerns (nostalgia pandering, characterization, casting choices, etc.), my only real issue is that I don't think Netflix is the best platform for edutainment.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with?I hope they go back to Pluto now that we know a lot more about it, or maybe even visit some exo-planets or the other dwarf planets like Eris. Bonus points if they find the pile of stuff Janet left on Pluto! Ms. Frizzle could even use the Pluto debate as an example of how scientists change how things are classified based on finding out new information.
Other topics that I'd like to see:
- Exploring planetary satellites, especially since some of them, like Europa, are speculated to possibly have life.
- Time travel story that explores the dinosaur-bird connection.

The date's been confirmed for September 29th, and here's an image which looks pretty freakin' sweet.
On another note, Kate McKinnon is going to be Ms. Frizzle's sister. Which sounds both stupid and awesome at the same damn time.

Love tearing bad movies to shreds? Join us every night at 8 PMConsidering that Miss Frizzle had a ton of random uncles and aunts, her having a sister isn't actually that weird.
Not Three Laws compliant.Man, that's not a family tree; that's a family forest.
I smell magic in the air. Or maybe barbecue.Think it'll ever get as crazy as certain Marvel Comics family trees? Or it's already there?
Wake me up at your own risk.Been waiting for this ever since it was announced. Sucks that it won't be out for another month or so though.q
I find that the second link essentially being "ew.com" to be remarkably apt.
Your momma's so dumb she thinks oral sex means talking dirty.I thought Kate Mc Kinnon was just straight up playing Ms. Frizzle?
Have you any dreams you'd like to sell?Yeah, it would have made more sense if they needed a change of cast in the middle of a series, not a new series a long time later...
x2 Same here, I thought she was perfect for the role. Hell its the reason why her character in Ghostbusters is one of the few things I liked in the movie: she was basically Miss Frizzle sans the red hair.
Well that animation... ain't great.
I think I know what the new " I knew I should've stayed home today!" Is though.
Was that Lily Tomlin as the original Ms. Frizzle?
I think it was!
Yeah, the animation isn't fantastic, but I'm still really looking forward to this.
Trust you? The only person I can trust is myself. The designs of most of the kids are a drastic step down, but hopefully their personalities will be intact. I do notice that there seems to have been an effort to make Tim less of The Generic Guy.
The animation could be a lot better and the designs seem to lack the personality of those of the original series (though Arnold's looks decent, at least), but otherwise, this seems to be shaping up pretty well.
I love that they got Lily Tomlin back for this. I wonder how often she'll actually show up as the Friz.

"Lucian, don’t be afraid, we’ll make it through this."^^They're not the same kids.
3DS FC: 1719-3694-1541What, did everyone just have an identical child with a similar fashion sense?
Well, that makes sense.
"Lucian, don’t be afraid, we’ll make it through this."Yeah I really did have high expectation for this show due to all the wait, but upon seeing the trailer and animation I am disappointed. Same could be said for the design of the kids, they definitely look less distinct from the past; I don't recognize Ralphie, Phoebe, Wanda or even fucking Carlos.
So yeah my only complaint with this show is the animation at this point. I'll just continue reserving my judgement on this show until its release (hopefully with more updated science facts and the character dynamics we enjoy from the kids). It better not go in the route of Bill Nye Saves the World, now THAT was a disappointment to my nostalgia.
I really don't think they're supposed to be the same characters. For the most of the characters, you can tell which character is supposed to be which (if they are the same) or at least which character is supposed to be an analogue, but there's no Wanda and there's a (I'm guessing) latina girl who isn't in the original show.
And when it comes to the animation...it's an educational children's show. It sucks, but that's kind of what all of them look like now. And having looked it up, it's being done by Scholastic Entertainment. Yeah, of course they're going with flash animation. Scholastic probably approached Netflix with a preset budget and plan and just gave Netflix the bill.

Not Three Laws compliant. While watching the trailer, I notice there is a glasses kid who seems to be a worry wort; which is very reminiscent of Arnold.
So I acknowledge your statement on the possibilities that there would be a new cast of kids along with a new Ms. Frizzle; but it could be possible that these are the same kids based on one of them looking and acting similar to the previous. But again, reserving judgement until the show airs.
...The designs from the original were also generic though.
Yep, tis is a thing that exists.
While I can't say "Oh god, why?" yet, as apparently it was announced back in 2014 and was reportedly delayed, it's set to come out this September.
