A roguelike that will kick your teeth in, extra crunchy. It's a fresh game, released in May this year, and currently in Early Access. You control a surprisingly emotive silent protagonist - which is extra impressive, since the protag is headless, instead having some sort of... fire on his head?

From there we proceed onto the world of goomba-stomping, weapon-upgrading, blueprint-collecting, grenade-throwing. Permanent upgrades can make consecutive deaths less terrible, because you are expected to do the run in one go; there are no checkpoints and sometimes it feels like one would be nice.

Seen this played a few times on some streams and You Tube videos. It's also on my Steam wishlist, though I haven't bought it. It looks pretty fun and definitely challenging.

I've just reached the Insufferable Crypt for the first time.

You will probably need a melee weapon or a lot of Skill Points to hope to dent The Watcher in any meaningful way.

Judging by how much I've seen from Vinny and Limes from Vinesauce (and Vinny's friend Mike), this game looks great. But is it only for Steam or is it in consoles too?

From the here say I've heard depending on fan desire there will be a switch port.

Also I suck at this game and I'm still having a blast despite being unable to progress further than the ramparts.

There's going to be an update in a week or so.

As for my own updates, I recommend hunting Scorpions once you unlock the sewers. They drop a Rapier blueprint, which might be the best thing since sliced bread. (guaranteed Crit after a roll)

Since I had one that dealt bonus 175% damage on a frozen target and an Ice Grenade, it could demolish Catchers - which I think are just about the tankiest enemies on the block - in one hit (6k+ damage) and take huge chunks off The Watcher.

Yup, definitely fun to play, even though I utterly suck at it. I managed to luck out and beat The Incomplete One in the first try, but I've got my ass handed back to me every time I went up against it again.

Also, I squeed when I finally got that teleportation rune... Only to find out that it allows you to go to an even more brutal zone than anything that came before. The devs weren't kidding around with that sign saying "if you go there, you're pretty much fucked" just before the entrance.

If you're not feeling confident enough to dodge his attacks, the best way of dealing with an Incomplete One is a sword-n-board; block his swing and wail on him while he's stunned. It's tedious and drags on, but the risk is pretty small as long as you're mindful of his AOE.

Gotta say, when the game was still new I wasn't sold, but now that they fully overhauled the upgrade and progression systems, I'm in love with Dead Cells. The way it lets you customise your challenge, and opens up new shortcuts and additional mechanics on higher difficulty settings makes it much more appealing to me than the trite suicide run formula found e.g. in Rogue Legacy.

New update has just hit the beta branch: The Castle and its own boss.

Oh, you thought Clock Tower was bad? You have seen nothing yet. Of course, that makes it even tougher for someone to actually unlock the Boss Cells now that there's yet another level before The Wharf (and enemies' hp is once more out of whack).

Love how no matter how much they nerf it, Necromancy will always be the best mutation.

Funny about that last post, because I'm necroing this thread to say that Dead Cells has Castlevania DLC now.

A handful of enemies and locations, some weapons and items, and plenty of additional costumes, characters, and references to find. Well worth it, I think:)
