Some new things from E3
Biggest new things is the reveal of Grace Armstrong. She was actually in the initial reveal trailer for a brief moment but it wasn't clear if she was a friendly NPC or just one of the possible player characters. This confirms that she's an allied character who specializing in sharpshooting.

And that trailer is lot more exciting than that 10 minute gameplay demonstration.
I'M MR. MEESEEKS, LOOK AT ME!I think this game will do just fine.
Who watches the watchmen?Dear lord, whomever they chose to be the demo player was a terrible shot. They had so many opportunities to score clean hits on the targets, yet kept missing. and even the use of the airstrike was questionable, since it seems he was more interested in nailing the fuel truck rather than a cluster of enemies.
Remember though, this isn;t to show off skills, they're probably just showing off enemy actions (like how one enemy was moving to pick up his comrade) and demonstrating how the airstrike works, along with the vehicle explosions.
To me it looked like they were almost deliberately missing, to show reactions (As it looks like god mode was active for the video).
Anyway, looks good - and I like how we have allies now, more like FC 2, but with improvements.
Ooh, what's this about a non-linear story? I might just be picking this one up come release.
yeyThat makes sense, but it doesn't make their poor showing any less painful.
"Sandwiches are probably easier to fix than the actual problems" -HylarnOf the three assistants I played at E3, the dog was the best. The sniper was ok and the pilot was just clumsy.
I'm reminded of MGS Phantom Pain where a heavily armored rocket spewing mech was regularly out shined by a dog with a knife.
How'd the gunplay feel? Was stealth viable considering how open the town looks? Is melee combat just straight lifted from primal?
Is using "Julian Assange is a Hillary butt plug" an acceptable signature quote? How many melee weapons were there? Is it just the bat or do you get knives and stuff too?
yeyIt feels like Far Cry. I didn't try looking for other melee weapons.
Far Cry 5 – How the Cult's Hymns Shape the Musical Landscape of Hope County
“If you knew nothing about the cult and you heard this music, you would think it was beautiful and inspiring,” says Gronick. “But once you know the cult, those songs have a different meaning to them. And once you play the game and you start hearing these songs, and you listen to the lyrics, you go, ‘Ahh, that’s what they’re talking about! They’re not talking about this, they’re talking about THIS.'”
The hymns are everywhere the cult is. When the cult takes over an area, they bring in buses or put up poles with loudspeakers to blare their music and announce their presence. The Project at Eden’s Gate even has its own radio station, which can be heard blaring out of radios and car stereos all throughout Hope County.
“I have to admit, when we first set out to do these hymns, my initial thought was that these would annoy players enough to want to kill the cult members so they could shut that music up,” Gronick says. “But as we delved deeper into it and started getting nicer recordings, and we started getting these beautiful songs done, all of a sudden I see people playing the game that switch to the cult radio station on purpose, because they like the music now.”
The hymns are so ubiquitous throughout the game world that the rest of the game’s ambient music – which changes during combat, stealth, or exploration – has been written to complement them.
“Think of the music as a tree, and the hymns are the trunk,” says Gronick. “And from there the branches are action, when you’re going into battle; stealth, when you’re sneaking or hiding; open-world music, when there’s no bad guys around and you might be talking to someone; and stingers, dun-dun-dun-dun.”
Now a part of me is hoping that they make every single message typed in by players appear as text messages!
I was already going to pick this up but Co-op like that seals the deal.
Who watches the watchmen? How Hope County Was Built Into a Believable Slice of Montana
“We needed to change the way we prepared ourselves,” says Isaac Papismado, assistant art director on Far Cry 5. “In the past, we used the internet, we used a lot of secondary sources, books, things like that. Whereas now, we really want to go onsite with a team with cameras, and get as much as we can.”
That meant taking a series of trips to Montana, during which the developers trekked into small towns and wilderness locations. They got to know Montana’s ecosystem, wildlife, and people, and took thousands of photos, many of which were used to re-create the landscape in a process called photogrammetry. Using photogrammetry, objects like trees, vegetation, buildings, and even people are photographed from multiple angles and scanned to create lifelike 3D objects. This technique led not only to some of the most detailed environments Far Cry has seen to date, but to a few surprises that made their way into the story.
“When Richard, our lead on biomes, came back and scanned a birch, and there was actually a heart shape with initials and names, and we’re like ‘this is awesome!'” says Associate Producer Philippe Fournier. “This is the level of detail you can find in some of the assets. We can tweak it and make it story-based, but getting that sort of detail is definitely a first for us.”

Eating a Vanilluxe will give you frostbite."photogrammetry" is an awkward clunky piece of vocabulary that doesn't roll off the tongue even slightly.
I hate it. It's delightful.
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youThat is a really neat process. I wonder if they could use mapping LIDAR in a similar manner.
Who watches the watchmen?Be honest with me. Will my game look nearly as nice as the game they show in the gameplay footage? Or will I be running it at 14 fps at the lowest graphical settings
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youI dunno. Far Cry 3 and 4 looked lush until Ubisoft released a patch which made my HD 6870 card spit out its dummy. (That's why I now have a R9 390x)
And Far Cry 5 uses the same engine. Ghost Recon: Wildlands, on the other hand, didn't. And it was basically the same kind of game. And looked lush on my machine and still does.
I can run fc4 at max settings without too much drama. However, Hitman no subtitle screws me hard even at low settings. I didn't think Hitman was such a taxing game???!!!
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youNo kidding, Wildlands was made for in-game photography. So many breath-taking vistas in virtual Bolivia.
Eh they are more of a Christian Fundamentalist Cult from what I have seen rather than a Racist White cult. There is definitely African Americans among them.
