The new ending song is alright. Its style reminds me of Bump of Chicken in fact, though I do agree that the last third-ish of it could've been more energetic and had more interesting visuals than Yusaku posing with his monsters.
Vaira's Temple of the Kings card was the same one used by Rishid way back in the original series, right? That artwork looked familiar.

I and a few other people are quite pleasantly surprised that they opted to use older cards like Machine Duplication and Temple of the Kings when they need those effects instead of making a redundant, gimmicky one-off we never see again.

The only thing she directly countered was Field Spells. A more direct Trickstar counter would be effect damage nullification. Which was actually Dr. Genome's shtick, funilly enough.

She said it was because Blue Angel's deck was well known due to her being a public figure.
It's very strange that she had that specific counter on her at that moment (since Ai/Blue Angel being on VRAINS was just a random spur of the moment thing), but that's just the luck of the plot.
I'm hoping Blue Angel wins this. It would suck for the third part of the anti Hanoi alliance to lose such a big duel, especially since it feels like she's been doing really well (I'm hoping she doesn't get hit with the usual Yugioh proactive female protagonist syndrome).

I'm worried that even if she does win we might get a Yuzu scenario where she starts out cool and competent but her importance and/or screen time decreases exponentially as the series goes on.

Well, that happened because they made Yuzu herself the Macguffin of the plot. No matter how cool she tried to be, the plot would ensure that all her agency would be taken away because You Can't Thwart Stage One. They should have made her bracelet important, and not her directly.
Aoi (I called her Ai a few times, and that's my bad) has already played her damsel role, so now she's theoretically free to gain fair victories and remain important.
I say theoretically however, because this is not only Shonen, but Yugioh, and it's never treated it's females very well, even if it starts out as the opposite, so I admit your fear is justified.

Some people were worried that Aoi was going to be damseled again this arc. Instead it was Naoki.
So what is this foreshadowing that Kusanagi seems to be dropping in the preview? Is he referring to himself or to Faust?
Lots of competitive players facepalming at them treating Soul Charge like a bad draw. Otherwise, that duel was perfect.

I'd argue the opposite. While the song itself isn't as good as the first ED's I still like it. The visuals start out good but then end up going to shit after the first couple of seconds.
