This series really respects it's audience and doesn't dumb down things for us. I love first contact stories and so far this one can hold it's own with the best of them.
The female characters are actually cute, too, especially the UN woman and the crazy scientist lady, despite the CG for them.
Watch SymphogearThe scientist girl feels a bit out of place tho.
Probably because she's childish when everyone acts mature.
And, while it's probably not very surprising, I like the negotiator girl's design more. She's still a CGI, though...
I don't trust pretty boy alien there for one second. No way some weird guy from another dimension just drops by, gives us perpetual energy and isn't up to something shady.
New episode is out:
The UN acts as one would expect. And the UN relations chick finding the video where she bursts out laughing and her reaction was both funny and adorable.
Watch SymphogearMan, humanity must look ridiculous from zaShunina perspective. He's giving us infinite energy, and all we can do is squabble over who gets the most of it. Not making a good impression there.
Tsukai is great. She's really competent, but has a cute side.
I think it's kind of funny how the alien guy is like "Is it easier to just reach out, or should I stick my arms outside the universe or back in? Eh, it's easier to massively bend the laws of physics so I can read my children's picture book."
Not Three Laws compliant.I'm sure the concept of having arms is new for him.
New episode
"You can make a Wam, and you can Make a Wam! Everybody can make a WAM!" XD!. Also, Scientist lady EATING Za-shunina's hand made almost fall on floor in tears.
Watch SymphogearUN: Give us all the Wam!!!
Japan: Suit yourself. Trololo.
I suspected it's going to be some way to produce Wam on Earth, I didn't suspect that it could be done from paper.
Well, that sure was one hell of a bomb to drop.

Yep I totally love how simple and alien the Wam production process is.
I knew it! I knew this alien weirdo was up to something shady. Full on tampering with human biological functions now? This dude is bad news.
Eh, seems like he's just Speeding up the evolution process. Nothing to shady. Also, I liked the explanation that the next generation of children (and adults that are child at heart) can make Wam and not crotchety old adults.
Watch SymphogearYou ever read Childhood's End? They just wanted to advance us too. Spoiler alert: It ended badly.

I guess just flying Kado would be too normal.
It went pretty great actually. Humanity advanced to the next level just like advertised.
No, humanity went extinct. Those little freaks they made off with were not human. And they sterilized everyone for good measure. Mark my words: He's up to something hinky.

I really like this show, but have to keep fighting my feelings that he is up to something. I honestly don't think he is but so much media of this type has trained me to feel he has to be.
Yeah, something's up. Best case scenario, something very bad, unrelated to the anisotropic, is coming and he's trying to make sure humanity won't be wiped out.
I am wondering if it's a The Gods Themselves situation where the Wam might be transferring energy both ways and there's something odd happening to the laws of physics.
Either that or it's like Gatchaman Crowds with a, quite frankly, creepy "utopian" vision that has a lot of really offputting elements.
EDIT: Actually, there's a different best case scenario. He's from the future and was either helped by future humanity, or is from future humanity and what he's doing is necessary for him to exist. Still weird and offputting, but it's an approach that makes sense and gives him some actual motivation that isn't completely alien.

Not Three Laws compliant.zaShunina being evil would be such a cop-out.
I doubt he is evil. Just alien.
OH GOD WHY AM I A CAR!? - ForzareI think the removing sleep is an example of . It seems really heinous to us, especially since he did it without asking, but to an entity that doesn't sleep, it would look absurdly inefficient. We have to shut down for hours each day, for no clearly defined reason (because yeah, scientists don't really know why we have to sleep. The current theories are just best guesses, since there are people out there who don't have to sleep) and if we don't get it (in normal circumstances) we get less and less functional until we eventually die. Out of the major biological processes, it's the one that looks the most useless from the outside. And as mentioned above, there are people who don't sleep, ever, proving, to an outsider, that sleep really is useless.
Not Three Laws compliant.Getting rid of sleep sounds great. What a waste of time it is!
4 episodes, including an episode 0, have been out for a while and with no discussion topic, I thought it would be a good idea to make one.
its all about negotiations, and the negotiations happen with a being from another world, making it essentially The Day The Earth Stood Still in anime form.
Its rather slow paced, but it fits with the negotiation theme of the series, and the main important characters are all in CGI, though its very good, especially by most TV anime CG standards. And from Toei, of all things.
