According to the Square Peg Round Trope page:

  • Bury Your Gays is supposed to refer to a narrative punishing a character for being gay, in a form anvil-dropping used by homophobic fiction. However many examples instead simply refer to any gay character getting killed or injured, regardless of whether it has anything to do with their sexuality or how the story portrays it.

After reading the page description, I can't tell it from that. this discussion on a page locked over the debate of its use recommended I take it here. A page being looked over it in the first place tells there is officially a problem with it.

First, is it only meant to apply as described under Square Peg, Round Trope? If so, it has been recommended we clean up the description (described in the discussion as "rambling"). We should also do a wick check to see the extent of the misuse.

With it's current use of any homosexual character dying, that sounds unhealthy close to complaining and a case of People Sit on Chairs if it is not relevant if not related to their cause of death.

I don't think this is ripe for TRS without any evidence of misuse. And questions about the definition should go to Trope Talk first.
