I liked some of the jokes, even if I feel they were to the movie's detriment.
My favorite is probably that Harley's "nuclear option" is Puppy-Dog Eyes.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!Of course the movie is dumb, Harley Quinn is the star of the film and considering the amount of dumb fun in her solo series its kind of the point.
I actually kind of like it as it balances out all the more serious DC Animated Movie of the year . . . yes including the Batman vs. Two-Face movie as its serious by Adam West standards (god rest his soul). I do howeverrecognize that this is pretty much the second Bruce Timm involved Batman project to receive mixed response. But unlike The Killing Joke there isn't really high anticipation that would leave me completely disappointed in the end.
On the whole this isn't much like the Harley's comics appearances, except maybe for the first half or so. Her schtick is mixing screwy humor with well developed plots and emotions, mostly because the people who write her know what they're doing. She's not just "lol gags and references," as this ended up being.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain.I know. And during parts of the movie it actually showcase some character explorations in Harley regarding her trying to reform but have a hard time due to herpast making it complicated to get a respectable job as well as joining with Batman just so she can try to talk her friend Ivy out of the plant plan.
So to me it does come off as watching a Harley Quinn comic.
So far, all I've seen of this is Harley vs Ivy fight on youtube.
First, I don't recall Ivy being said to be much of a fighter, so her going one on one with harley for so long is impressive for her.
Second, both of them tit punching each other and then doing a full on Cross Counter is hilariously out of left field.
...and that's it. I'll probably try and watch the full thing at some point.
One Strip! One Strip!Eh I'll prolly watch this move at some point but not for a while.
Been pretty burnt out on Harely.
Suicide Squad (Both movie & comic), Injustice 2 & her own comic, I just got really tired of her lately.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Don't forget (spoilering just in case) Telltale Batman. I completely understand feeling that way.
Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).Jason Woodrue is the Floronic Man (a rather dumb name, he used to be known as Plant Master, but they changed it for- some reason. Maybe to avoid confusion with the even more obscure Marvel villain, Plantman?)
Also, I suspect Swamp Thing's presence in this movie was an homage to his scene with Woodrue way back in the comics when he found that he was a Plant Elemental and not Alec Holland. He gave the villain a stern talking-to then too (his plan there was even more stupid.) And note that Woodrue eventually went back to being a villain anyway. (But that's comics for you I guess.)
You'd think Ivy would have sought to hang out with the Swamp Thing, especially after tasting his yummy yams.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.I like the expression she made when she ate them. XD
I smell magic in the air. Or maybe barbecue.Still think Harley and Deadshot had the better sex scene. :V
Mileena MadnessWho else laughed when they saw Captain Clown in the tavern?
I smell magic in the air. Or maybe barbecue.Dancing the robot with another android from B:TAS, no less.

Latest blog update (November 5th, 2022).This wasn't so bad... Harley sounds nothing like Harley though.
He does say no initially, and then says yes(not the usual hentai-doujin mid-act "yes", so not that kind of bad). Well, kind of a "eh, might as well". Same thing as with Deadshot last time.
This is better than last time - that Suicide Squad animated movie had a man ogling what he thought was a corpse.
However, if you want a genuenly cringeworthy scene in the Batman and Harley movie, here you go:
Looks like DC picked up the "character putting up with sexual assault is somehow fanservice" habit from anime.

She didn't put up with sexual assault though...she immediately retaliated when the guy grabbed her...
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!Yup. It established her as owning herself.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Ehhh... I get his point. In anime, female characters who are sexually assaulted for fanservice typically get to have payback too: scenes like that are twofold, they let the creators use the female characters for fanservice, and also let them cover it by having the female characters beat someone up for laughs/coolness, but that doesn't stop the fact that the whole thing is immature and kind of skeevy.
The big cultural difference is that anime tends to use it strictly for laughs, while Western stuff both uses that sort of thing for humor and for more edgy action-movie-esque fanservice as well.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. That defined the whole film.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.Immature? Yes. Skeevy? Not often. Harley's early scenes stand out because they're fairly objectifying, in a way the rest of the film doesn't really approach.
Even Ivy is actually rather tame in comparison to her other incarnations.

"The difference between reality and fiction is that fiction has to make sense." - Tom Clancy, paraphrasing Mark Twain. What is up with Nitghtwing's hair?
It looks weird as Hell.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Sorry, all I could think was "There is no goddamn way Dick Grayson is stopped by tape."
Why does Dick always get fucked over in these animated adaptions? He's always getting his ass beat or shoved off as soon as the plot starts.
My various fanfics. He's also canonically a massive manwhore and pornomancer, and occasional rape victim, so they got that right.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. What can I say, every girl want's Dick.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."To be fair, Batman and his allies often play weak and then break out of their bonds when enemy least expects it. It's possible that he could break free. Also, Harley would probably use ropes, but the tape was funnier.
@ slimcoder Ironically, the movie makes fun of his previous hairstyle.
The only joke that really hit me was Swamp Thing's absolutely useless appearance. If only because it was actually an apt parody of how the character acts in comics.
The movie feels either like a 13-year old's fanfic or a youtube poop of the 90's show with a higher budget.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."
