I don't really have that much of an issue with the current, but the Cruise pic definitely works as well.
I think 1.1 is clearer.
1.2 is too cluttered to notice the box right away IMO.
Since this is a behind-the-scenes thing, not just any time that "a shorter person stands on something to be closer in height to a taller person", I really dislike 1.2, and strongly prefer one of the ones that is actually showing the use of it on a set.

I don't mind the graininess of the current image.
Also, I think it's pretty funny that he's wearing sandals :)

Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan.Don't have an issue with the current. The Cruise suggestion isn't bad, though.
Check out my fanfiction! The first of those is not an example; the boxes are to add visual interest to the set, not to bring the shorter members up to the same height as a much taller ones; also they aren't being hidden from the audience; they're right out in plain view. The second there is an example, and is pretty good.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.5 looks good enough for me.
I prefer 5 over the current.
(Annoyed grunt)I don't know how to upload that though
EDIT: And I found a version without the names on top

Oh, 12 is even better. I hadn't noticed before that the Scully boxes are different heights themselves, to make all the girls appear to be exactly the same height
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.12 is really grainy though, and is not much better than the current in terms of quality.
A Scully Box is more than just a crate stood upon. It allows for a runway of sorts to walk on as the scene needs. The Tom Cruise pic does not depict this. The current one does. I vote for "keep", image is not poor.
Quoth the trope description: "Unlike the traditional movie apple box or trench, a Scully Box can be stacked up, or laid out in a runway. It's very versatile, and used to accommodate large height differences between cast members." Only the current one shows this.

That's being overly narrow, unless you are suggesting that we should have two tropes, one for the Scully Box and one for boxes used for exactly the same purpose but which are not designed especially to be laid out in a runway. Also, there's no reason that the traditional apple boxes couldn't be stacked or laid out to form a runway.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.The core of the trope is that the actors are made to stand on boxes to give them a height boost. How the boxes are laid out are of little consequence.
Note that this is trivia, not a trope.
Becky: Who are you? The Mysterious Stranger: An angel. Huck: What's your name? The Mysterious Stranger: Satan. Here's a crop of the second one...I think the whole thing might lose too much detail if it was reduced.
Quality upgrade
21 > 5 > current

21 is good.
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"Clock is set. Crowner, or go with 21?
Crown Description:
Nominations for replacement images:
The current is a pretty low resolution behind the scenes photograph. Here's◊ a colored piece of fan-art of those two, but I think it would also help to move away from the Trope Namer. Perhaps◊ Tom Cruise with a tall model?
