Foreign works pages

According to How to Create a Work's Page, the rule for foreign works pages is as such : "If the work has an official localized title, use the English title for the page and add the non-English title as a redirect. However, if the work doesn't have an officially-translated English title, you can use the non-English title for the main page and make the English translation into a redirect instead.".

I however have on occasion met works that did not meet that rule, and some where it was debatable wether or not it should apply. Therefore, I thought it might be useful to have a thread discussing those matters.

Examples of issues found on foreign work pages :

• Achille Talon uses the French name of the comic. However, both the comic and the cartoon have been localized under the name "Walter Melon". I believe the page should therefore be moved.
• Chronicles of the Emerged World was never translated in English. According to the rule, the page should thus be called "Cronache del Mondo Emerso", with "Chronicles of the Emerging World" as a redirect. Maybe English-speaking fans regularly use that name as a fan-translation though, in which case I'm not sure which option is best.
• Caméra Café is a page entirely based on the Italian version of the show. Seeing how it was originally a French show, that has to my knowledge never received an English adaptation, I believe the page should be based on the French version instead, only mentioning the other versions on the Trivia page and when they feature skits that didn't exist in the original.

I generally agree.

There's nothing wrong with troping a version of a show that's been translated/adapted to a different language, and if that's the only version tropers who write tropes for those works have seen, that's really the only thing they can write for. However, if the page is mixed then it should mention which tropes are not from the source work. That can either be done with a split of some sort, or just mentioned in each trope (which can be unwieldy if there's a lot of it, and I'd generally only suggest it if there aren't many differences between the original and the adaptation).
