I think it might have been changed by accident
My issue with the current is you need ALL folders open, which for one, since you can default the folders to "Closed" in your user setting, means a bunch of reader will never "see" the full joke.

That's a good point. The Garfield suggestion isn't bad, but I think it can lose panels 2 and 9 (so the eye transition is captured) and still work.

I prefer the old one. (and not just because I did it the first time). Going to the suggestion also loses the stinger.
I guess what I really want to know is, if the old one hadn't been brought to to IP's attention by being removed without discussion, would we even be talking about changing it?

It also does not appear that they were deleted by accident. All of the deletions are in one single edit with nothing else changed. This was an editor deciding to make a major change tot he page without discussion or an edit reason and in blatant disregard for the note at the top stating that IP had chosen it and not to change it without a new thread.
