resubmitting my sheet, will send you that bio soon =D
- Name: Hytal: The Scout
- Age: 18
- Equipment:
- Armor: Simple hide armor with some flimsy metal coverings. An emphasis on mobility, might be able to take a glancing blow but certainly not a full strike.
- Weapon: A Longbow and Dirk.
- Gift: Wooden Talisman - a gift from his family, shortly before the Brand manifested itself. It was supposed to grant him good fortune, now it only serves as a reminder of the life he once had.
- Appearance: A young man, fit as a fiddle and with a head of hair the color of rust. He bears a scar across his lip from a scuffle in his younger days. His eyes are green like the forests he once hunted in.
I'm assuming no firearms but would you accept a crossbow like that one guy in the Ringed City?

Good to be backAlright, here's my sheet.
- Willem the Headsman:
- Age: 38
- Equipment:
- Armor: Chain shirt covered by a threadbare dark blue and grey surcoat. Rusty pot helm. Leather boots.
- Weapon:
- Headsman's sword (functionally a bastard sword), shined to perfection out of discipline.
- Shortsword
- Gift: Wreath of Withered Flowers- A small circlet of flowers long since dried out. A trained eye would find that the blooms were once white roses.
- Appearance: Willem is a hulking man, his head resting at a lofty 6 feet, 7 inches. His messy salt-and pepper hair and scraggly beard frame a squared face with blue eyes and a broken nose.
Okay. I hope this will suffice. Thanks for running this.
Hey folks, thanks for your interest. I'm hoping to get things properly off the ground this time.
@Troyand: Assuming you mean the Repeating Crossbow, I could accept it on the condition that the long journey to Haelwyd has damaged the mechanism. Use of the repeating mechanism will carry a non-zero chance of breaking the bow irreparably, and you will not be given a full quiver of bolts.
@Greeneyre: Sounds good to me. Willem is approved pending your backstory PM. =) Let me know if there are any things you'd like to know about the world outside Haelwyd so we can work that out.
It's been fun.Willem is approved! Welcome to the game.
It's been fun. After being gone for quite a while from this forums. I can definitely say I'm interested in this, being a fan of the Soul series. I'll try to post a character sheet sometime during the week (probably during the weekend, since I'm busy during weekdays IRL).
Another thing... I really like how you want the backstory to be revealed slowly over the course of the RP... that's actually something not that common around R Ps that allows for some interesting storytelling.
“Seek freedom and become captive of your desires. Seek discipline and find your liberty.” ― Frank Herbert, Chapterhouse: DuneI do hope so. It will put more burden on the players to open up and share, but as long as not everyone is trying to be the brooding man of few words I expect it will go fine.
It's been fun.Hytal is officially accepted. Welcome, Romanian!
I'm available to work on more setting details or background specifics for people, as well.
It's been fun.- Name: Convict Rogan
- Age: 35
- Equipment:
- Half-dozen crossbow bolts.
- Armor:
- Faded Leather armor over well-worn chainmail,
- Mismatched pauldrons and leggings.
- Weapon:
- Damaged and dented kite shield
- Flail
- Gauntlets can serve as Cestus
- Gift: A metal collar around his neck.
- Appearance: Rogan is a tired old man, he's got the body of on in constant physical labor and the scars and hard look of a man in war. He's got raggy, greasy black hair that goes down to his shoulders and a untrimmed beard.
Equipment looks good, though I'll note that you have crossbow bolts but no crossbow.
Also, with the backstory you gave me, you'll have to give me more detail on how he procured these items.
It's been fun.Let's call next weekend the current planned start date. I'm hoping for one, maybe two more signups so we can have a party that's a bit larger.
It's been fun.Sounds good to me.
- Name: Kellon Anders, Knight of the Church
- Age: 21
- Equipment:
- Armor: Chain Mail, Silver Eagle Kite Shield
- Weapon: Lothric Knight Sword / "Church Knight Sword".
- Gift: A strange old Talisman, a gift from his old mentor. He cannot take any power from it yet, but it has a use...
- Appearance: He appears to be almost the archetypal "fair faced knight of the church", possessing a handsomeness to him that is more androgynous than rugged. He has shoulder length black hair, dark gray eyes, and a well built, leanly muscled frame. He is slightly pale, and despite the appearances he keeps, he seems worn down a bit when he's alone.
I'll be starting you all off a short walk from the village of Gaerlwyn, just on the inside of the Wall of Haelwyd. It'll be up to you whether you meet before entering the town and how, but generally we can assume that you were able to find your way through (or over, maybe) the Wall. That I may have you guys tell me about as well, to see if you found anything in there. =)
It's been fun.Rogan is in. Welcome to the party, Troy.
Nick, be sure to send me your backstory via PM.
It's been fun. Here's what I have in mind so far for the Theocracy.
The Theocracy of Era is based in a cold land far to the north of Haelwyd and the Wall. People there traditionally worship the Flame and the Named, particularly Queen Lastivan in a form of sun worship, given how rare it is to see the sun except in summer. The Church of Era is actually the result of an ancient schism that rejects the divinity of Lastivan's Thousand, holding that as the stars give no life to the earth, putting them in the same category as the Queen is disrespectful.
When Haelwyd closed its gates and the earth began to rot, this was taken as proof by the Erans that the faith practiced by the other lands was false. For a long time, the Church had tolerated the acknowledgement of the role the other Named had played in ending the Age of Darkness, but with the light starting to fade, murmurs of discontent began to arise. The Thousand born of Lastivan were bad enough, but the Silvered Beast? The Filth? Blasphemy. Heresy.
Soon, the murmurs swelled into a chorus, guided largely by the hand of an upstart young preacher named Lannan from the secluded Monastery of Ilwaedg. Charismatic and possessed of great and mysterious powers that seemed to prove his claims to the Sun Queen's favor, he quickly re-established the failing power of the Theocracy by deposing the aging Pope and installing himself as the head of the newly formed Grand Inquisition. Within ten years, the fractured pieces of Era were reunited stronger than ever - her ragged wounds cut clean with the gilded blade, cauterized, and washed with the blood of heretics.
By the time of the roleplay the Inquisition has been the dominant power in Era and much of the surrounding lands for nearly thirty years. The Inquisition does not host missions of mercy; their Knights are missionaries and executioners, often at the same time. The Scripture of Era reads that the Flame will rekindle when every unbeliever and Branded One is dead and their bones fed to the fire.
It's been fun.@NickTheSwing, still waiting on your adjusted profile/acknowledgement of changes.
Everyone else, sorry to keep you waiting. I'm currently looking at Wednesday the 7th as our start date. I'll be working on the starting post between now and then, so if you have any last-minute questions or so on, just let me know. Things may seem a bit sparse right now, but I have a lot planned to be revealed once we get going.
It's been fun.So... I was hoping to have time this weekend to at least start my character sheet. Considering I have a lot of RL stuff coming...
While I'd love to join, I may find it a bit difficult right now. I hope I can join at a later date, probably by the end of the month.
If not, well, it's ok. I'll wish you all fun!
“Seek freedom and become captive of your desires. Seek discipline and find your liberty.” ― Frank Herbert, Chapterhouse: DuneThose will be my college finals, just to warn you-I might be a bit sporadic.
Good to be backAh, I'm more than willing to push it back to this weekend. I don't want to make people wait too long and lose the momentum, that's all.
It's been fun.No, don't. I just have two.
Good to be backWell, would the 8th work better? We have a few people still expressing interest who haven't put sheets in yet (and an outstanding sheet from one - ~Nick The Swing, please respond to the PM I sent you).
School does come first, and it doesn't really make a difference to me whether we start on the 8th or over the weekend.
~georgiano, I can't promise you a spot without seeing your sheet, but I'll be glad to look it over anytime. =) Taking the weekend to start working on it may end up pushing things back a bit far for the people who have already signed up, but I'm not averse to feeling out how things are with the RP when you get your sheet in.
It's been fun.- Name: Earnest Garry
- Age: 29
- Equipment:
- A bulky and well-worn coat, crossed with stitches and patches and some equally comfortable and worn trousers, both in a sort of earthy green.
- A hefty and spacious backpack with nothing inside save fifty feet of rope, his whetstone, and a grappling hook.
- Armor: Just a fashionable leather shoulderpad
- Weapon: A sickle, kept extremely sharp but not modified to be better at fighting or worse at farming.
- Gift: A really nice whetstone. Can sharpen almost any edge to a gleaming end in a few quick strokes.
- Appearance: Garry actually looks very well-kempt in spite of the appearance of his clothes, and he keeps his face and head clean-shaven. He has a very round head but with sharp features and pale skin, and he's of average height, around 5'11, and with a bulky build and a bit of a gut.
Okay folks, given that we're getting into summertime now, I'm going to go ahead and re-open signups for this. Please read the OP; I am always available for questions via PM and I'll do my best to get back to you as quickly as I can.
Sorry to say, but anyone who's already applied, please re-apply - you may apply with the same character, but you'll need to send me another PM.
It's been fun.
