Red Turtle is a co-production between Ghibli and Wild Bunch.
Kubo was unlucky to get up against Disney at its best in both categories.
Really? SS got best make-up? What for? The Make-up is f... stupid.

"City of Stars" takes Best Original Song.
Feel pretty bad for Moana since it lost its two Oscar nominations. Oh well. Still a great movie.

"Pardon me, that extremely loud and extremely deep voice you may have just heard. It was me. Oh, it is such a long story..."I was pulling for "Fools Who Dream" myself.
That was to be expected, though I wouldn't have picked either of the Lala-Land songs. There were so many better this year.
FUCK I DON'T WANT TO HAVE TO WAIT 2 YEARS FOR THE LINNAMON ROLL TO HAVE A RECORD BREAKING AWARD COMBO
Now they had donuts drop down from the ceiling. XD I think they have Pinkie Pie working there tonight. ;)
I smell magic in the air. Or maybe barbecue.Great googily moogily, the salt over Moana not getting a single Oscar is real on Twitter right now.
I admit, I'd be lying if I didn't say that I'm a little disappointed that "How Far I'll Go" didn't at least score the Best Song Oscar, myself. (Though, as I said before, I'm not really mad. Oscar or no Oscar, Moana is still a great Disney movie.)

"Pardon me, that extremely loud and extremely deep voice you may have just heard. It was me. Oh, it is such a long story..."Casey Affleck pulls ahead of both Denzel Washington and Ryan Gosling; can't say I was expecting that.
Emma Stone picks up Best Actress.
Aaaaaand once again my hometown was robbed. Wish we'd been robbed by someone who wasn't a creep. But the bizarre Academy honors system strikes again.
HOLY SHIT
Any group who acts like morons ironically will eventually find itself swamped by morons who think themselves to be in good company. The card for Best Actress was in the envelope. So they initially announced that La La Land was Best picture, but Moonlight was the actual Best Picture winner.

Whoooooooooooops.
Didn't see Moonlight.
I actually had the Wikipedia page for the 89th Academy Awards open, they'd already listed La La Land as Best Picture winner. I'm screenshotting it for posterity.
There's this little cynical voice in the back of my head asking how much of this win was genuinely feeling the film deserved it and how much was an attempt to prove how not racist they are after last year...
I mean, from what I've heard Moonlight is amazing and deserves all of the awards it gets. And you would think if they were concerned about being seen as progressive they would have... not nominated Casey Affleck or Mel Gibson for anything.
Hey, they didn't have a Studio Ghibli movie this time. I'm disappointed. >.<
