I've seen a fair amount of misuse for this trope. As far as I can see, this trope is about when a fandom becomes disgruntled that their favored work has become more mainstream and starts appealing to a wider audience, which leads to criticism of the work/creator for bringing the "normies" in. For example, this is a good example of this trope:
As one can see, fans were angered that Notch became more of a public figure and how Minecraft moved to "mainstream" home consoles instead of staying as a simple indie game on the PC. Yet, people seem to be confusing this with Hype Backlash or Overexposure Backlash. Like, what does an entitled group of fans have to do with this?
This would work if the Undertale fandom was disappointed in the game's immense popularity and preferred it to stay an underground hit; however, that's not happening at all, rather, members of other fandoms are angered that Undertale received more praise and popularity than their preferred games. This trope page needs an overhaul.
