This week I painted the Blood Bowl Star Player Varag Ghoul-Chewer for my Orc team. While I do like this model I doo have a soft spot for the old model◊ from when I started playing the game and it is better then the previous Varag model◊.

Not bad at all. The squig does look good, and I like the turf.
Thanks. I have been experimenting with different basing themes recently and the one I came up with for my Orc Team (Agrellan Earth painted with Rhinox Hide and then drybrushed with Tallarn Sand with the addition Ushabti Bone pitch markings and some old Citadel Burnt Grass flock) is one of my favourites.
The latest in my project to paint Tactical Marines as many Chapters as possible is the Angels Encarmine. I tried to give this model a bit more weathering than I normally do due to their background of constant action but I am not sure if it came out all that well.
That's pretty good, but to be honest, I had to look for a coupla seconds to find the weathering. Duncan's technique of dabbing Leadbelcher with a sponge might work well, plus some random tiny lines on the armor panels with Leadbelcher or Ironbreaker to show scratches would be good as well.
I've got my Destroyer and Heavy Destroyer to the point of getting a coat of gloss varnish before adding transfers...still have an evening's worth of work to go on the Destroyer Lord.
Thanks. I had been considering doing something along those lines but I wanted some light/subtle weathering and ended up with this.
Looking forward to seeing your Destroyers.

So, I have a few questions regarding my homebrew chapter.
I decided on a name (finally), and their colour-scheme. They're an Imperial Fists successor who model themselves after the Custodes◊ and have a focus on swordsmanship. So they're going to have a similar colour-scheme to the Custodes.
Here's the question:
- 1: I was thinking of giving marines with flamer weapons some small flame decals, like how the Salamanders tend to put all over their armour. Good or no?
- 2: Does anyone know if the Finecast Black Templar Sword Bretheren are multi-part? Like, are their heads separate from their bodies? 'cause my FLGS has a set of those and I've got 20% off all purchases made in this month.
- 3: I'm planning on using a combination of Blood Angels, Black Templars and Dark Angels bits. Any recommendations for making them not so obviously from those chapters? Obviously I won't be using the pauldrons or chapter-specific symbols. But my issue is going to be the Blood Angels bits painted in the same colours as the Custodes may make them look a bit like Sanguinary Guard.

1. Sounds cool
2. They are single piece I believe
3. I have seen people combine the Templar and Dark Angel kits for use with either chapter so you shouldn't have too much trouble. As for the Blood Angels, it is mainly the grails and blood drops that will have to be removed, some of which are quite small. How is your hand with a hobby knife and a file?

Got the Destroyer and Heavy Destroyer finished...the weather's too shit right now to spray on the gloss coat for the Destroyer Lord. The Heavy Destroyer's gun was badly warped and the fix I made didn't completely take, plus I broke one of the center joins trying to get the green rods in, which is why it looks off kilter. Overall, though, I think they turned out pretty good.
That bend to the Heavy Gauss Cannon is quite bad but not the worst I have seen. The paint job is great
I finally got the Destroyer Lord finished. Damn thing almost gave me an aneurysm over the transfers. The first time I tried to put on the ones on the back, I accidentally warped one but didn't discover it until they were almost adhered, so I had to scrape them off. The second time, one got torn too badly to use so I grabbed one from a different sheet...and didn't notice until the next morning that it was noticeably darker than the other (older sheet), so I had to paint over them and start over. The third time, the satin varnish somehow got streaky and ruined the effect so I had to paint over that. The fourth time worked out fine.
If the thumbnails say the pics were moved or deleted, that's a Photobucket hiccup, the pics should be there.
Looks great, the gold works particularly well. You also can't tell that you had trouble with your transfers (I personally never use them because I just cannot figure out how to put them on properly).
I recently painted a Tactical Squad of Black Wings Marines at Epic scale.
I am always surprised how easy it is to paint the old epic scale models, I suppose it is because they don't require too much detailing.
Heh...I see those models and immediately I'm hearing Fat Bastard: "Jayzus Chraist, ees tineh!"
I'm about 2/3 done with my Night Scythe...got to finish the line detailing on the wings and paint the gate thingy on the bottom and then put everything together.

Finally finished my Night Scythe this evening. I used Army Painter's spray satin varnish for the first time, and I rushed it too much, so the top got a little bit frosted, especially on the wings, but not so badly that it ruined the model. Overall I think it turned out pretty good.
Gonna concentrate on the Ghost Ark next...I really need to beef up my heavy support and transport slots.

Looks great
It does remind me that I must paint up my second Doom Scythe.
I finally got around to painting Grimnir's Thunder and its airship from the old Dreadfleet game recently. I like how the ship turned out and am particularly happy with how the bases looks.
That looks great...I especially like the water effect, you made it looks really realistic.
Thanks. I was surprised just how well the water turned out. Now I just have to hope I can recreate it when I do the other ships.
I have now gotten around to painting the Venerable Dreadnought that I got for my birthday in February for my Black Wings army. I generally like how he turned out but I am not sure about the paper scrollwork as I tried something a little different in an attempt to make them look a little older.
Looks good. The scrollwork looks fine.
Nice. That looks good
