This was briefly discussed in an IP thread a while back, but now that the Expanded Universe have been discontinued and renamed as Star Wars Legends, the SWEU page is essentially a duplicate to Star Wars.

So the question, should SWEU be turned into a redirect? If so, should it be redirected to the Legends or the SW page?

Seems more like a disambiguation would be appropriate. Or a history/analysis-disambiguation page, which would be even better. Unless people have already settled on one use for the term Star Wars Expanded Universe.

This page seems to be used as the page for the post-Disney EU (certainly that's how Trope Overdosed seems to use it), though there's enough discussion of Legends to make it unclear if you're just looking at the description. Given Disney's canon policy "Expanded Universe" is a bit of an iffier distinction than it was before, though.

Isn't the Disney Canon information already included in the main Star Wars page? The Expanded Universe page provides an additional list of the non-movie works in the Franchise. But given how Star Wars page is already in the Franchise/ namespace, I don't see why that information can't just be moved to the latter.

I'm not a Star Wars fan, but I suspect there's a lingering attitude that Legends is the true expanded universe, or at the very least is treated with the same level of respect, and so Disney stuff shouldn't be elevated "above" it. I also think there's a more general attitude throughout the wiki that certain franchises with an undeniable center can have certain "levels" of canon, but then, Disney Star Wars is sort of uncharted territory because of the effort being put in to make everything 100% canon. The Star Trek Expanded Universe and Doctor Who Expanded Universe aren't even internally consistent, so there's no way they can be more than deuterocanonical.

I'd leave this page as-is for now.

I guess the clock must be up; do we have a final decision?

Any general tropes from the Expanded Universe as a whole almost certainly apply to the franchise in general. Merging seems to be the best option, as it would also make it clearer that stuff from the old EU should go on Star Wars Legends.

Seems like no consensus; so closing due to clock expiry.
