Made a crowner here with the following options that I can glean from this thread:
- Restrict to In Universe Examples Only.
- Example Sectionectomy, leave the article as a description-only page.
- Cut the page completely.
I'm personally in favor of the second option, BTW. We have plenty of description-only pages for fora stuff like Hit-and-Run Poster and Internet Backdraft. I just don't think we need examples.
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"Attached it.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanAn in-universe example of a flame war does not necessarily involve any sort of backdraft or anything else. In fact, flame wars predate the internet! They were found in fanzines and the letters columns of magazines, back in the day. And in the future, they might occur within the depths of an imperfect Hive Mind which uses telepathy.
Unless we actually have another trope where in-universe examples can go (and I don't believe we do), I see no reason to forbid in-universe examples.
Speaking words of fandom: let it squee, let it squee.Calling crowner in favor of Example Sectionectomy. Time to cutlist the example subpages.

Crown Description:
Flame War is plagued with zero context examples and natter, much like Internet Backdraft used to be.
I think a crowner is in order.
