What is Whatever Mancy for?

Is it for any magic called a Mancy, or a -Urge or whatever? Or is it for Scrying in ways that are currently untroped?

Also wondered here: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/query.php?parent_id=47569&type=lnf

"Does it exist for any kind of scrying that's not recurring enough for a trope for itself, or just any kind of X-Mancy, as hinted by the Erfworld picture of their magic classification system?"

It is a common naming system for sub-types of magic. That is it.

So, presuming [up] is right, because he/she's a lone voice at the moment, then fire-reading, is not supposed to go in Whatever Mancy?

Yes, that's the correct definition: "A standard naming convention for types of magic is to call them <whatever>-mancy..(or "-kinetics") " so if they call it "fire-reading", it's not an example.

Okay, so... From TF:

"That conversation is incorrect, as the forums frequently are. It is for both things that get called x-mancy and a sort of ersatz useful notes for the actual meaning of x-mancy, "scrying using X"."

Who or what is "TF"?

Can you link to the actual discussion there, please? Search isn't turning anything up for "-mancy" "Whatevermancy" or "fire-reading"

Disregard, I found it.

OK: Scorpion is incorrect when (s)he says it would be Whatevermancy. The trope Whatevermancy is about the naming convention itself; using "<whatever>mancy" to mean "Magic of some sort (not necessarily divination) related to <whatever>." The very first sentence is the definition: "A standard naming convention for specialized magic- (or magic-equivalent-) users; they are referred to as somethingmancers, and their specialized form of magic is called somethingmancy. "

(S)He is correct that the character would be a Seer, and if you can find more examples, YKTTW ing a sibling trope to Instant Oracle: Just Add Water! for scrying or divining with fire would be aacceptable.
