As Blade Below the Shoulder trope covers three different types of blade should the page image be a collage of pictures, one for each type.

I think the current pic is reasonably good for the Type I version (Attaching the blades to your elbow, wrist, or even the back of your hand).

For Type II (Embedding the blades inside your arms, from where they can be deployed and retracted by thought alone) I was thinking something like this X-Ray of Wolverine's blades.

For Type III (Replacing one or both of your hands or even your arms with large swords) the best I could think of was Bull Gorg from Necromunda

Instead of that pic for Wolverine, one that shows the claws coming out between his knuckles, from either the comics or the movies, would be clearer. X-23 would also work for that, as her claws AFAIK have always been shown as coming out between her knuckles.

For the Type III, would a Hormagaunt or any other Tyranid with blade arms work?

Since Wolverine Claws is already a subtrope, use someone other than the man himself on this page, maybe?

But I do like the idea of a collage-style page image showing all three types.

How about panels 2+3 from here or would that suffer the same problem as[up]

I did consider that but I think a humanoid would be more appropriate personally.

That is very cool although it would probably need to be cropped a little.

[up]I did see that when I was looking for X-23 pics but thought the one I suggested was better as it focused more on the claw.

Looking at the examples I can't believe I forgot about Baraka so how about this. I had also forgotten that the current is actually a Type II even if it doesn't look like it so how about the real life pata sword.

On a different note looking through the examples a lot of them seem to be under the wrong section, which is a little annoying.

Movie version of Lady Deathstrike for the second.

Gigan for the third.

Gigan's pretty cool. Deathstrike's not bad, although I think I prefer the X-23 pics; here's a version that's not Wikia-bit, and a couple of different takes on her: 1, 2

Yes Gigan is pretty good but I still think I prefer Kargath Bladefist from 3. Lady Deathstrike is cool but some pics of her look a little too like Creepy Long Fingers rather than blades.

Another option for Type I would be Street Fighter's Vega (another character I cannot belive I forgot as he was always my favourite from the game) and here is another Baraka option for Type II.

Here is a (very) rough mock-up of what I am thinking about.

I just wish I could find a third pic with a white background to fit the first twosad

[up] Like this?

It's transparent, so if you want a white background, it'll be an easy fix.

^^ Yeah, that white background thing would be my only gripe with that layout.

I think we've got enough options for a crowner at this point.

[up][up]Reasonable but the blade could be more of a focus.

After looking around a bit more I have done another one.

My only objection to the Vega pic is that it's a little too close to the way that Wolverine's claws used to be depicted before the films made the Type II claws a normal thing (see the pic on his page if you don't follow). Is there another pic of him that makes it more clear that those are something he wears?

[up]I was a little worried about that myself but I thought the fact that they were coming from the guard on the back of his hand would be enough to indicate that they aren't connected. I am not sure how you would illustrate the difference between a claw coming through something rather than being attached to that something however.

I really like the other two in that. The first one maybe could be clearer that the claws are attached to the guard, but it's not too bad.

How does the current picture look with the other two? Never mind, I just saw the post that says it's a type II

I did some GIS-ing and didn't find a better Vega pic. However, someone where there's no ambiguity about the blades at all is the Shredder: 1 2, 3 (last one needs a bigger version).

[up]The second Shredder one is excellent. And it will hold its own with the other two; similar color saturation and starkness.

I actually think the first would be easier to crop for stacking with the others.

19.2 is the better pic but 19.1 crops better

It does seem to be fan art however so will we need permission for that?

I don't think we need permission from someone who copied a character probably without permission. It's polite, though.
