Emojimovie: Express Yourself Thread #2

Normally, I'd post what I'm about to post here in the already established thread, but that one got locked.

We have a first look and cast reveal for the movie.

The whole entire premise just sounds like Wreck It Ralph except with apps. I don't know how Sony could make a movie that is basically the very same thing Disney did and successfully made a hit. Not optimistic about this one.

...Not gonna lie, I'm not exactly feeling very confident for this movie. This just feels like they're trying to recreate the unexpected successfulness with The LEGO Movie, but there's a sense that they might not really grasp what made that movie great...

And I have a sneaking feeling that the release date should probably be an indication as to how much faith the studio actually has for this movie.

the plot they choose is a poor one. I would have preferred if they focused on the animation more, and made it a bright and colourful film that had a story just about the various emojis going on an adventure through and iPhone, without a main character. The Lego Movie was a big hit because it had great animation, a great cast, and a plot and story that were very moving.

I saw The LEGO Movie and caught the tail-end of it again on CN last night - and I can agree with all of this. This movie coming out soon has nothing going for it that I can bring myself to care about, honestly.

Is anyone else aggravated that we're getting an Emoji movie instead of a Popeye movie by Genndy Tartakovsky?

I mean, I'm sorry for bringing it up again for the umpteenth time, but let's face it, wouldn't you guys rather hear about GT's Popeye instead of this inevitable piece of schlock?

I'd rather see the Popeye movie, too.

Making a movie about emojis seems like a really dumb idea anyway, and one that sounds really easy to mess up, at that. And I'm saying this as someone who can usually find something to like about any new animated movie announcement. I agree that the plot seems a mite similar to The LEGO Movie, too.

Honestly it won't be half bad. Remember guys, execution is what matters, not the idea or premise.

hey remember that show that he did? with the mecha, man i miss that show and the rest that he did.

no wonder i like asking questions instead of stating an opinion. people might assume your troll for it. all you guys expect most people think the idea is crap but you have to understand that everyone has different opinions than you. i respect that most of you guys won't like the idea and i can see that.so wow not you respect my opinion even if it's a bit paradoxical. i'm really trying my best not to set off flame war as well as troll hunt.

back on topic, like i said, it's obvious it's a ripoff and i might not plan on seeing but you shouldn't get your underwear in bunch. let's sit back see what happens and look for ourselves if a emoji movie idea was dumb in the first place. i'm not saying it's bad, it's just ok and harmless.

When did emoticons start being called emojis? Seriously I think this is the first time I heard the term emoji.

Emojis is just another proper term for it, really. I forgot when.

Who knows how good this'll be. Might be bad but entertaining, but who knows.

BTW, if you think somebody is a ban evader, holler, don't accuse.

I wasn't even aware miru had been banned. I assumed he had just left or something.

I think I misremembered then. From research, it appears he left(or she?). I know he got edit-banned, but that's a different thing.

Anyway, you still shouldn't accuse people of being someone else. As I said, if you think they're another person, holler. If you're not sure if they got forum banned, say something in the holler about it and a Mod will take care of the rest(and easily inform you if they weren't forum banned too).

Minu? I never heard of this guy or even know if I have any connection with him. I'm a completely separate entity. I'm serious, I never heard of him.

Also I'm really sorry if I thought you guys assumed I was a troll because it's been happening a lot lately. And for the emoticon thing, yeah , they basically the same thing. I never knew why emoji became a thing until now.
