I think David Kaye is trying, but he just doesn't capture the "grandpa-ness", I think.

Kind of funny that not only is Tara Strong one of the only returning voice actors for this show, she was also one of the only returning V As for Xiaolin Chronicles.

If it wasn't for the fact that she's not voicing Bubbles in the PPG reboot, I'd be left with the impression that you do NOT get rid of Tara Strong.

By the year 2025 all female and young boy roles will be voiced by Tara Strong. Resistance is futile.

I forgot Xiaolin Chronicles was even a thing.

Ugh, that, Ben 10, Powerpuff Girls, the Mega Man cartoon. I heard Spongebob sucked for awhile then got good again and I haven't watched any new episodes in about a year now.

I'm real glad Samurai Jack is supposedly going to be a digital series and not hosted on Cartoon Network. With Adventure Time and Steven Universe going off I'm actually going to have to stop watching cartoons and pursue a boring adult social circle. F'ck that noise, why are all of my favorite cartoons getting remade into something I like less than the original?

It's not really ending, it's just a theory. And if it were ending, it's just evolving into a more adult series like for Toonami or something. But this isn't really the place for it.

The show keeps going and I don't see any aliens. You know what that means, no origin, no Ben's nemesis, I don't think word "Omnitrix" was even used.

Anyway "Clown College" is about clowns and college. To go trough latter quickly, grandpa meets some of his school friends and shows kids that old folks can be cool. Of course, grandpa Max was supposed to be Badass Grandpa, and yet this is first episode where he does anything useful. And they had to sideline Gwen for this.

So how was Zombozo? He was making performance with his clown henchmen and then tossed some hypno-trance gas at people to steal their stuff, almost exactly like Circus of Crime. To make it clear, he was not freaky or supernatural at all in this version. He went from paranatural Joker to Ringmaster, Marvel Z-list villain.

On sidenote, very few characters were not recast: Only Dwight still plays Animo, Tara plays Ben, and Dimaggio still reprises Four Arms and Zombozo, but I swear he plays the clown a bit different in each show. Ultimate Alien Z was creepy, Omniverse one sounded more like normal guy, and 2016 version goes with more goofy ham voice.

... That sentence confuses me. I don't suppose you mean new alien transformations, since that would mean Ben no longer transforms, so I have to guess you mean no alien villains or supporting characters... then what the hell are all the freaky creatures in the trailers? Or Queen Bee?

To go trough latter quickly, grandpa meets some of his school friends and shows kids that old folks can be cool.

As you say, that should go without saying. I mean, seriously, the reason he is so popular to begin with is that he is one of the coolest adult characters in cartoon.

So how was Zombozo? He was making performance with his clown henchmen and then tossed some hypno-trance gas at people to steal their stuff, almost exactly like Circus of Crime.

Jesus, they really are sticking to recycling Lighter and Softer versions of the Original Series' scripts!

And clearly they progressively forgot the "monster" in Monster Clown.

So Hex's actor is Robin Atkin Downes now but John Dimaggio is still Zombozo?

Weird.

[up][up] They're just monsters or freaks of science. Queen Bee, I don't even know. Show barely acknowledges that she's not human. She has no origin, no weird motivation, shows no powers, even flying....

"Something I Ate" starts with Ben and Gwen visiting super boring museum. Accidentally, it kinda feels like seeing them watch their own show.

You know, let me just list some patters in this show.

- Animo makes appearance but again, not fully, just on screen.Maybe someone is still designing his legs or something.

- Just like Hydromander, Animo's beast (that doesn't look like any animal) can talk, even though it only says "candy". Writers clearly think kids are too stupid to figure out what monsters might want otherwise.

- In early episodes, writers really rushed sub-plots. Now, they just give up to tell them. In "Clown College" some guys complain that Ben takes his pranks too far. Guys return, Ben fights some clowns, but that scene is never followed. In this one, Gwen tells Ben that he shouldn't eat too many junk food or he will be sick. And monster gets sick when it eats too much, but it's never really cobbled together in any sensible way.

- There is one decent joke by the end. This is best this show can do, one ok joke per episode.

BONUS: There will episode that rip-offs "Dr Animo and the Mutant Ray". Behold hideous Grey Arms and Ben turned into absolutely pathetic knock-off of Kevin 11.

Oh, great, more new lame villains who the writers don't even bother giving origins or explanations for their abilities. I actually miss Omniverse now; for all its flaws, it at least gave us a villain with an interesting origin in Malware...

.... Woah. I can't believe I am saying it, but after hearing all you say so far.... yeah. I am actually starting to think Omniverse wasn't that bad by comparison. I didn't think that was possible, but I realize now that Omniverse writers were putting some effort in their writing.

Which is why this new series doesn't even deserve a chance. How the hell do each iteration just gets worse and worse. How do people do this?

Rustbucket RIP: Rather misleading title, though now that I think about it, Rustbucket is misleading name now as well.

Plot- Ben visits really boring place, he sees store with ultra-rare Sumo Slammers card that will be handed to first customer who enters and grandpa refuses to stop. Later he begrudgingly agrees to visit store at the end of day. Ben goes anyway, gets card, Billions is mad because he wants it but rather then stealing it, he steals Rustbucket and says he will give it back for a card. Then after Ben defeats him, Max decides to end conflict by tearing card in half and giving piece to each. Combining with fact that aside Clown Collage, he's never part of action, I really don't care about this version of grandpa.

Billy Billions is now just generic evil spoiled rich kid you probably saw before. I don't think he's even a genius anymore. Also, his voice actor is much more generic. I guess I should mention we meet his parents? They're generic evil rich guys who pick up Billy and complain that he ruined the car and didn't even destroy his enemy. Generic. I used that word a lot, didn't I?

Ben 24hrs: Ben wants to go Adrenaland, he doesn't sleep whole night, starts sleepwalking, ruins place, wakes up and fixes place as shown in that old clip. That's all.

Ok, one thing worth noting is that Ben manages to switch between aliens while sleepwalking, fact that Gwen acknowledges in way as if they were going to make something out of it later. Maybe.

Neither am I. So far it sounds like they made him join the rank of "Adult characters who alledgedly are Reasonable Authority Figures yet act like jackasses", along with Nick Fury from Ultimate Spider-Man. Considering this show is done by Man of Action after they worked on USM, I suppose I shouldn't be surprised.

Wow, they actually bothered addressing my complain on OV Billy... and completely waste it on the way. Then again, if his parents really were like this I guess it does explain why they apparently didn't care when he was sucked to another dimension in OV. But yeah, if that's how they portrayed Billy Billions, I am not really interested in him anymore.

Every new description of these episodes makes me think about a crappy, less entertaining, superhero version of Adventure time, and it's just making me regret more and more about not watching the last episodes of Omniverse.

Honestly, I don't quite get the reason for all the hate for this show other than it's clearly not meant for older fans like us. It's a So OK, It's Average reboot of the original for a new generation, and while we might say it's dumb or bland or what-have-you, the target audience it's made for may love it. At the very least, I honestly can't say I find it out and out insulting and annoying like Teen Titans GO! and The Powerpuff Girls reboot. The humor isn't generally mean-spirited, the characters aren't complete assholes, there isn't any forcing of memes...it's just a simple kids show. And who knows, it could get better as it goes on. Nobody really expected much of Adventure Time or Steven Universe when they got started, and look where they ended up. Even Ultimate Spider-Man got better by its last season.

So Hex's actor is Robin Atkin Downes now but John Dimaggio is still Zombozo? Weird.

Khary Payton is now a regular on The Walking Dead, so that probably explains his absence. He wouldn't be able to commit to constant visits to the recording studio when they needed him, so they got someone else, especially since Hex and Animo seem to recur the most in this first season.

[up]I don't hate this show, I just don't care that much about it. I am disappointed that they had the opportunity to make a fresh start and try something new with the show, only to go lazy and just keep going further on the Lighter and Softer/Returning to the roots road that I disliked in Omniverse, but that doesn't mean I'll go tell the writers to kill themselves or something like this. I'll admit, though, you are right; it's nowhere near as insulting as Teen Titans Go (not sure for the Powerpuff Girl Reboot, I never watched it).

I did not know that Khary Patton was in The Walking Dead now. Interesting to learn, though.

[up][up][up] Well, you're not wrong, seeing how most of my complains about the show is that it's forgettable and generic. And I will keep watching it just in case, even though I'm not sure if Spider-man's quality spike was worth the wait.

With that said, if we just accept that kids will like anything we might as well forget about good cartons like Gravity Falls or Wander Over Yonder because they simply won't be made anymore. Instead we just get cash grabs like this. And I do mean cash grab. I saw billboards and commercials on different channels promoting this show.

And sorry, but I'm starting to hate the argument that Steven Universe didn't seem much either. 1) Steven was from early beginning full of questions, hints and foreshadowing. 2) Using "It might get better" logic, you can defend literally anything. And 3) SU was from beginning a smart show. Characters were creative and well designed, animation was fluid, it had style. Seriously, who watched "Laser Light Cannon" and though "Oh look, another Spongebob cartoon"?

Though, I will admit that, if this show was more of standard reboot like Nick TMNT or even current Marvel shows ( so was more of action adventure, had ongoing story, and used more characters for previous shows) chance is I would like it more.

I really hate to be the guy or gal who sounds cynical as flip but, my Lord I'm disappointed, Severely disappointed. Most cartoons now days are either nonexistent, bland, or sometimes as you guys said, average. Now before you point me to the nearest steven universe or any of the small minority of good cartoons, they tried but personally, they're not enough for me. As much as I like comedy, I do genuinely miss story driven cartoons, action cartoons, or any kind of shows in general. It pains me to see cn going on this path, I really do.

Now just the other day, I got chance to watch one of the episodes and I gotta tell ya it sure is blander than I expected.
