Ben 10 (New Series)

Really sucks that Ripjaws always gets the shaft because he was one of my other favorite Ben 10 aliens, too.

I almost forgot he was part of the original lineup.

Heatblast, Ripjaw, Fourarms, Stinkfly, Ghostfreak, XLR 8, Grey Matter, Wildmutt, Upgrade, Diamondhead.

I saw Animo Farm. That was weird, because Animo never made physical appearance - he was only referenced by animals and there was a statue. To make it weirder in there is second Animo episode after that and he only appears in video screen on robot.

Anyway, episode was not writing mess and had like one good joke. It was still kind of meh-ish, though.

So, no one made Tvtropes page for this cartoon yet?

I think someone asked about it before but nobody bothered.

I kinda liked Ripjaws even though he was really limited in his uses. Although then again I think that Omniverse retconned his difficulty breathing air as an Omnitrix Glitch, since I saw him breathing just fine in that one weird episode with pirates and bottle ships.

Nah, the Ripjaw guy in that episode wore a suit allowing to breath on ground despite this weakness. In later episode, a few situations end up overheating his suit and he starts deshydrating again.

Speaking of which, anyone else thinks the "Omnitrix glitch" explanation for removing powers was dumb?

Which powers were removed?

The original Ben 10 aliens were, Heatblast, Four Arms, Upgrade, Stinkfly, Ghostfreak, XLR 8, Wildmutt, Ripjaws, Diamond Head, and Grey Matter.

The Omnitrix glitches were a pretty lousy handwave a lot of the time. Although it isn't solely their fault that interesting powers and applications were removed (like Humongosaur's size-shifting, which disappeared maybe partway through Alien Force).

Well that's a convenient way to have an excuse to get out of retconning, at least with the Omnitrix.

The Omnitrix glitches were mostly to remove things like Goop's acid powers, Chromastone's flight (which was weird when the sample could fly), and Ditto's only distinct feature as a "cloning" alien (that all of Dittos got hurt, not one).

EDIT: I have created the page and its relevant Trivia and YMMV sections, and I'm wondering why.

I am especially mad at them removing Goop's acid, since that was his only offensive power.

I'm not bothered by retcon because it was never said in show, it just a minor handwave, mostly to ignore powers that were used one time like when Stinkfly's lasers or Way Big's super speed.

Next episode, Take 10. Refreshingly not all episodes appear to be rehashes of old one. Example: Ben wants to make action movie out of his stopping the Bug Gang while Gwen wants to make a comedy.

Ben: I'm not funny.

Great Scott, Ben, we finally agree on something. We found a common ground. With all seriousness, there was one decent joke.

Ben: I'm going to stop these robbers- Max: Please tell me that's the whole sentence... Ben - and make the greatest action movie ever!

There, I said something nice. Now to moan. Good lord, these villains suck so badly! I would take any previous villain above them. I miss Kevin. Vulkanus. Argit. Road Crew. Benevelon.

Wow, even Benevolon?!!! Jesus, what kind of horribly lame villain was it to make you wish for this guy back?

i saw him more like a whiny clone than a threatening villain to say the least.

Ohmahgawd. They all look so much like a Steven Universe Be cool Scooby Doo mash up of wrong! It's so cutesy and off-character at the same time!

Eeeee.... I am confused, why did you post a clip of Adventure Time with Ben 10 cameos? Also I had no idea they had a crossover.....

... Oh, wait. It's supposed to be a full Ben 10 reboot episode.

Seriously, they aren't even trying to make these characters fit to the style of Ben 10. Remember when even this franchise's minor villains had awesomely creepy designs?

oh my freaking lord i hate this art style so much.

The argument about action vs comedy by Ben and Gwen feels like a cry for help from someone.

I hate to sound overly critical and fanboy-y, but Grandpa Max just doesn't sound right when he's not being voiced by Paul Eiding.
