Discovered there was no there thread for this. Decided to remedy that.

So, I decided to get into the Halloween spirit by watching horror films two weeks early-The Fly(1958) and The Fly(1986), Alien, Aliens. and a little film by John Carpenter called The Fog(1980).

I heard about it, ignored about it for a while, but finally decided to give in and watch it, and my god, is it good. John Carpenter makes an excellent score like his previous film. The tension is delicately timed and well-executed like a well-choreographed high wire act. The effects, while slightly and noticeably aged in some areas (i.e. some noticeable green screen shots, moments where the titular fog looks like it exists on another plane of existence), still hold up, like the aforementioned fog. The only downside I have to say is that most, if not all the side characters are noticeably one-dimensional.

My only question is, what happened to the townsfolk after the centennial celebration near the climax? You never see or hear what happened to them after the zombie/ ghost pirates leave, but I'd hate to think of the other option...
