"That... was one of my comrades..." Yep... it sure doesn't help when you fly a variant of the Jegan destroyed in the gif

"Never let anyone tell you that something is impossible." - Monty Oum, 1981-2015So...This is going to be cool.
Need to think of a new backstory for Loke's scars.
Good to be backThat reminds me, I need to also work more on the lore and plot, around where the blaster Kaylid has came from. Though that will need to wait at the second, I need to get back to packing.

"After time adrift among open stars, along tides of light and through shoals of dust, I will return to where I began."Announcement: I've chosen The Hail Stormer to be Co-GM.
In other news: I might post the sheet for the big carrier that will transport and support the entire team on big missions.

Congrats Hail.
Good to be backStormer. Not Hail. You should know that by now, Troy.
"Never let anyone tell you that something is impossible." - Monty Oum, 1981-2015My...definition would be giant mechanical suits, really. I mean...each seems to be unique and fitted to everyone, so...I suppose that's an apt comparison?
Pfah. The suit's sturdy enough. Constantly repairing metal without the complication of nano-machines.
...Well, I already have backstory and stuff planned out. Possible potential upgrades too, since the load-out is...basically nothing but constantly applying 'debuffs'. ...Hm. >.<
Hope you weren't expecting anything witty here. Maybe some day.I did that just to annoy you.
I'm not sure if we classify Kekoa Mano as a real or a super tbh.
Good to be back@Troy: I would argue Super, based on its abilities and backstory I think.
Also go Storm!
"After time adrift among open stars, along tides of light and through shoals of dust, I will return to where I began."Humanoid machines are inflexible compared to other machines with similar articulated limbs. AMBAC and Minovsky particles were invented to justify Mobile Suits, not the other way around, and the more versatile limbs of Masamune's Fuchikoma urban combat spider tanks are a far more realistic approach.
Uh, actually though, the Gundam series and similar have been around in this setting, right? Ser Architecture Masterful is a scholar of Human culture so I wanted to know if I could play off that.
Yes, Gundam has been around in this universe. As has just about every other mecha anime.
Where do you think they got the inspiration for the mecha from to fight aliens/other people/the next step in evolution?
Kaiju Big Battel, obviously
Alrighty, I've given the 096 some history. Will work on the second model Soon(tm). And, uh, I've noticed that I often ask barrages of questions, so if I start to do that, or if I generally become a pain, can you please slap me around with a medium-sized halberd? I wouldn't notice otherwise
Also, it is clear that they all played the Godzilla series of games despite an utter lack of relevant movies to give the games reason to exist, yeesh.

Captain Signup
- Name: Darien Mayer
- Gender: Male
- Age: 26
- Race: Human
- Appearance: Darien stands at 5 foot 9 inches, and has an extremely thin build. His hair is a neatly combed blonde, normally hidden under his captain's hat. He has deep blue eyes. His captain's attire consists of a snow-white buttoned coat and pants, with a gold and black trim. His hat (the one on the left◊ follows about the same colour scheme. Outside of being at the helm of his ship, he dresses rather simply, normally wearing a red t-shirt and black jeans with white sneakers.
- Personality: Darien is a rather easygoing individual, if a bit quiet. He's also the eternal optimist, which makes him somewhat naive. Given his youth and inexperience giving orders, he has no trust in his ability as captain of ARMOR's latest ship. Still, he's seen combat before as a starfighter pilot for the past 8 years, and has a sound tactical mind. He's very lax with insubordination, and easily forgives others. Not exactly the most serious of people, and somewhat prone to panic when unexpected circumstances appear.
- Traits/Abilities:
- Darien has numerous neural cybernetic implants to increase his mental thinking capacity and reflexes. He can think faster and with more accuracy.
- Darien is an average psychic. He's able to sense the presence of others' minds, and has some ability at psychic communication and telekinesis.
- Skills:
- 8 years worth of starfighter piloting experience. He knows just about every anti-capital ship trick in the book.
- He's a decent shot with a handgun.
- He plays tennis in his spare time, as well as taking part in cross country.
- He's got some tactical skills.
- Equipment:
- His sidearm, a standard laser pistol.
- Background:
- Darien was born on Earth, and grew up a relatively ordinary life. However, at the age of 18, he joined with the military as a fighter pilot on one of their carriers. For 8 years, he served dutifully in a squadron, but after an incident involving a corrupt commander and the population of the jungle world Lesrai, he decided to quit, and became a freelancer. ARMOR saw the potential and military experience he had, and decided to hire him as the new captain of the Gladius.
Ship Signup
- Ship Name: Ark-Class Capital Ship 'Gladius'
- Appearance:It's surprisingly big enough to hold just about any mecha.
- Mobility: The Gladius is understandably not very mobile, given its size and weight. Just about any mecha can outpace it. However, it is capable of quick intergalactic and interstellar travel, a feat that mecha do not normally share. It does need some time to charge up the drives for said travel though.
- Defences:
- Fitting for a capital ship, the Gladius has extremely thick, heavy armour that resists all types of ranged attacks, be they kinetic, energy or explosive.
- The Gladius also has the capability to create a powerful energy field around itself for a true 360 degree defence. However, the shields can only take so much punishment, and if the force is strong enough, part of it may still get through anyways.
- The Gladius has several cyber warfare countermeasures to prevent hacking.
- The Gladius has a fully armed security team and internal ship defences to help fight off boarders.
- Weapons:
- Vulcan guns: About the only guns able to reliably hit fighters, these are pretty weak, but fire fast. They're great against fighters with weaker armour, but useless against just about anything else. The ship has these guns on all sides.
- Laser Cannons: The energy equivalent of the Vulcan guns, these fire slower, but have more power and accuracy.
- Plasma Torpedoes: These dumb-fired superheated balls of plasma are meant to create openings in the armour of capital ships. Their damage is impressive against mecha, not so much against ships, and have trouble hitting fighters.
- High Explosive Missiles: These missiles are long range, and actively seek out enemy targets. They deal decent damage to ships and mecha, and often destroy a fighter in a single hit.
- Howitzer Cannons: For artillery support on the ground.
- Black Hole Beam: By feeding the power of the black hole generator into twin poles on the front of the ship, a miniature stable black hole can be created. The energy from the black hole is then released in a devastating forwards blast. Basically instant death for anything in its path short of a well-armoured starship. It needs time to charge up though, and the actual area that it fires in is small, meaning smaller targets can dodge it.
- Equipment/Abilities:
- The Gladius can house a lot of mecha of every size and shape within its hangars.
- High-power scanning and sensor equipment, along with a robust communications array.
- Black Hole Power Generator: Using a stabilized black hole, the Gladius essentially runs off of infinite energy. However, it's still limited by the stability of the generator.
- The Gladius has all the facilities to support a full crew and squadron comfortably. Most importantly of all, the captain's chair has a cupholder.
- Personality: The AI onboard is strict, cold and emotionless. However, it is sentient. It is simply known as Gladius Core. It keeps all the functions of the ship running and performs the complex calculations and corrections required. However, at times, the AI does show a dry wit and humour. According to ARMOR, it's not unexpected of a newly created AI to be more like a computer than a person.
- History:
- The Gladius is a former Earthern Space Fleet carrier, having been in active service for over 50 years. However, after all her years of service, the Gladius was finally set up to be scrapped, the design having already been refurbished past the point where it would be feasible for the fleet to do so again to make it viable. Using their contacts with the military, ARMOR managed to convince the fleet to sell the Gladius to them. With all their other contacts, ARMOR then fully refurbished the carrier with all the latest technology, and brought it up to par for combat against modern threats. One of these additions was the inclusion of a black hole engine for theoretically infinite energy. However, the acquisition of the Gladius has caused no shortage of controversy for ARMOR, and thus is relegated to more important/dangerous missions only.

What's the intended range of the Gladius? Is it designed to go close to combat zones? If it's not supposed to go anywhere near the fray, how will the mecha get there? Knights of Sidonia-style FTL (although I'm pretty sure it was done before)? If it is, what's its ability to repel boarders like?
It's designed to provide support for the mecha, both through firepower and intelligence/battlefield analysis.
It makes itself vulnerable in atmospheric flight, due to its size. For that, smaller class dropships are used to insert mecha onto a planet, while the Gladius remains in orbit to provide support if needed.
Just want to put this out there, my first idea for a signup was pretty much going to be Kiryu and Akane.
Hmm. Is the Gladius intended to always provide fire support, or only if needed and there's a significant threat to pilot survival? If the former, are there concerns of being trained to always have a friend watching over you and ready to swoop in and save the day? On a more OOC note, are battles going to be based more in a 3D arena (i.e. space and atmospheric flight), or on the ground?
Also, I have to admit it's been so long since I've watched any Godzilla movie that I've forgotten everything ever. I don't even remember which ones I've seen.

I'm surprised we haven't got more of the more magical-esque mecha.
And the overwhelming trend of Glass Cannon Fragile Speedsters.
The Gladius is normally only for REALLY big missions where the maximum amount of support is much needed. But it performs just about every task to do so. Communications, tactical analysis, fire support, etc.
As for the arenas, that's up to the location of where plots take place.

Oooh! Do the students choose their own sorties, or is it just "you're going here because we say so and also we're getting paid big money to do this"?
It's a mix of both. There will be some big missions that everyone will be forced to go on. However, smaller missions can be done at the students' choice for extra credit and monetary compensation.
The smaller missions tend to only use smaller, civilian carrier ships.
Cool, thanks for all the information! I'll stop harassing you with a storm of questions now :P
Well, with the specs for the Gladius and Darien complete...
Darien: Do a barrel roll! Spin this...
First Mate: A capital ship...doing a barrel roll? This isn't a starfighter, Captain.
Darien: Oh...right. I was...uh, just testing you all.
