The body doesn't matter at all, literally, they just have to be a tough physical fighter. Like Might Guy in Naruto for example isn't buff at all but kicks a lot of ass. If Brusier required a body then Girly Bruiser wouldn't exist.

8 and 11 are the best of the batch...if we could get a version of 8 that didn't have that framing, that would be be best, as 11 seems a touch light on the "bruiser" aspect.

I'm not sure how it's less clear that he's a "bruiser". Sure, you don't see his muscles, but he's clearly much larger than Ed (well...), the physique you can see is very robust, and that hug isn't particularly weak.
I also like it more because it's more of a scene than a pose.
