So I was editing the ''Hercules cartoon's page, and I added this with regards to the show's version of the Amazons:

  • Straw Misogynist: The Amazons are essentially this, but gender-inverted. At times they're basically what you'd get if you took a bunch of sexist, old-fashioned barbarians and gender-flipped them. They're more demeaning, disrespectful and patronizing of their society's men than pretty much any guy in the show is towards women.

This was later re-written from gender-invereted Straw Misogynist to just be Straw Feminist. I contested that on the Ask the Tropers page, arguing that Straw Feminism and gender-inverted Straw Misogyny manifest themselves in distinctly different ways, and that Straw Feminism is male-demonizing, easily-offended, or fighting against perceived wrongs. The Amazons of Hercules the Animated Series are not feminists by any stretch of the imagination, they're literally just from a culture where the roles of men and women were reversed and the women never got the gender equality movement memo, and acted exactly like sexist men acted, just towards men instead of women.

But apparently as Straw Feminism is currently defined, it encompasses any and all sexist behavior by any woman towards a man, even if that sexism has no ties to feminism at all. And frankly if that's the case, maybe the trope should be renamed to Straw Misandrist, or non-feminist misandry not stemming from any contempt for past oppression should be given its own trope, because as it stands it seems to imply either that all misandric views stem from feminism no matter what form they take, or that women can only be sexist if they believe some corrupted or perverted form of feminism, and either of these implications isn't exactly pretty.
