Pro: The guy they're robbing is blind so they have the element of surprise
Con: He's had years to sharpen his other senses. Oh yeah, he's also a freakin' serial killer! They are so boned.

It seems more like "handicap person defending his home from muggers".
By the way, it's really reminiscent of Stick. Blind old man utterly without mercy whilst being ultra badasses. They even have the same sort of coarse, booming voice.
"All you Fascists bound to lose."So according to the Director, both protagonists and the antagonist are bad guys so it might be a Gray and Grey Morality film. The protagonists are thieves stealing from a old blind man but the female lead is the Token Good Teammate who's only doing this to give her and sister a better life and leave their uncaring parents. The blindman is only defending himself from thieves who invaded his home but he might be a crazy killer judging from what the protagonists saw in his basement and dragging one of the dead thieves body instead of calling the police like any sane person would.
So it turns out the Blind Man is much worse than the Thieves since he's crazy as not only did he kidnapped the woman who killed his daughter in a car accident and locked her up in his basement but he also raped her so she could give birth a child to replace his dead daughter and was going to do the same thing with the main Female lead. Yikes!
creepy! when does it get released?
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youYea, its a case of Trailers Always Lie-The Blind Man is not some innocent, but badass, victim.
And the worst guy on the protagonists side doesn't last long, leaving us with two reluctant villains, really.
As far as I know it was already released august 26 in the US. Not sure about other areas.
The film has flaws, to be sure, but the performances are not one of them. Jane Levy is top notch and Dylan Minnete makes a surprisingly plucky character that you root for almost as much as Levy.
I also like that the writer/director basically made a movie to address the criticism of his last film and succeeded. It'd be like if you told Seth Rogen all he could do was stoner comedy and then he made an ultraviolent supernatural comic book tv show...oh wait, that's a thing that actually happened.
I remember that it came out at a few film festivals in NA before it was officially released, but yeah. I suppose it would prevent people from sympathizing very much with Rocky if she was just an accessory to a robbery of a blind guy.
I liked it, but I can see why some people were put off by the twist. It's pretty gross and manipulative. But the movie worked, so I didn't mind.
The trailer I saw in theaters never gave me the impression of him being an innocent badass victim. I was always like, "oh, you poor idiots. Thought you were robbing a defenseless blind guy and then BAM! crazy chick in the basement shows you something horrible's really going on in there."
Lol the dude looks like Ferris Bueller's reluctant best friend.
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youI have just come back from this flick.
It's very sleek and smooth, well-written, well-acted, flick. All the scares deliver and the Blind Man is a fanntastic antagonist, the fact he's blind really energizes the movie (because it means that unlike common horror movies, the conflict is more about not making any noise than not being seen). I only had two complaints, one of them fairly major and one of them minor. The major: The Shocking Swerve about the Blind Man forcibly impregnating his daughter's killer seemed very tacky and forced. As if the flick just wanted us to root for the thieves and had to make the villain a pseudo-rapist to even the moral ground. It felt cheap and unnecessary, it doesn't even add anything to the movie, it doesn't really tie into anyone's arc, and the movie wouldn't lose anything by just removing the lines he talks about rape and reframing the scene as him wanting to torture and kill Rocky because she robbed him of torturing and killing Cindy.
The minor: The last ten minutes are really unnecessary.

"All you Fascists bound to lose."I'm surprised our WMG page hasn't gone crazy with wild theories of the Blind Man being a retired Colonel Quaritch from the Avatar movie!
Anyhoot, this movie gets my thumbs up. I thought it was just gonna be another dumb jump scare film, but it manages to be much more than that. Heck, its a good film even if you're the type to never get scared - the suspense of the two thief protagonists trying to escape the Blind Man's house and outwit him works great by itself.
more like Don't Rob Blind People, am I right or am I right
