Another interested new person with questions, many of which I will feel dumb about when you give obvious answers! I'll also admit to some confusion when I first read the phrase "action avatar" since I thought it meant the little personal picture, and playing as a squid made of paper sounded problematic.
1) What is the difference between "story" and "script?"
2) Are OC's allowed? I ask only because every sheet I've read (which is certainly not all of them) seems to be an existing character. If so, that's cool. If not, also fine.
3) Anything I should know but don't know enough to ask?
If you have any more questions feel free to ask, we would be happy to help.
Incoming triple post since 1 works best with an example, and putting them all in one post is illegible oh well.
1) Story vs Script is something that is best showcased, and has been done in the posts below, if you have further questions about it feel free to ask and I can try to answer. :)
2) Most of us are using OC so they are 100% okay, either from an existing setting, or from a completely original setting both are good. :)
3) Hmmmmmmm, mostly that the GM's cycle that might be most useful for some one new, so while I am here to take care of aprovals and the like, Etheru is currently running the world and blot and would be the one to go to for questions related to them.

Script, which is fast but pretty un-descriptive.
-Commander Shepard leans over to the console to record her advertisement-
Commander Sheppard: I am Commander Shepard and this is my favorite store in the citadel.
Story on the other hand goes like this, it takes longer but is much more descriptive.
Commander Shepard sighed with resignation as she looked at the command prompt. In the fakest way possible, she intoned "I am Commander Shepard and this is my favorite store in the citadel."
For reference, the only purely "established" character I'm running right now is Noble Six, who is about as much of an established character as Doomguy. I think OCs will be okay. Just don't go overboard.
"Seven is here too, dressed like the concept of choosing clothes that look nice together was an arcane secret far beyond their grasp."Never mind. Overthinking.

" I did the right thing, didn't I? It all worked out in the end." "In the end? Nothing ends, Adrian. Nothing ever ends."Any plans for plot after the VR plot?
'If you fall seven times, stand up eight.' The cry of the Undead.Yes, we have an overarching plot where people help set up frontier towns, both bacon and spart have already cast bids.
Did they post these bids on the Discussion board or on Discord?
'If you fall seven times, stand up eight.' The cry of the Undead. They contacted me directly with the bids, and we will vote when the time comes, if you want on the list you should contact me with your own bid.
This is a tempoairy change to the voting structure, it will return to normal soon enough.
I'll just wait until it returns to normal, though thank you for the offer. I don't have any ideas in mind at the moment unfortunately.
'If you fall seven times, stand up eight.' The cry of the Undead.Okay guys if your planet is on the IC list, now is your time to sell your plot OOC, given that chuck is the only one not here right now, and I plan on commencing the vote as soon as the others have had there summary posted, I will qouteblock his for him.
On the planet of <UNDECIDED NAME>, the group finds a settlement of native extraterrestrials who offer them great, fantastic rewards for going on a Fetch Quest to retrieve a number of artifacts that were once important to their culture. The natives can't be bothered to get retrieve these items themselves because they are locked deep inside a <redacted>, guarded by several puzzles and other obstacles, so retrieving them would require ACTUAL EFFORT (gasp)...
While featuring some combat, this plot will mostly revolve around solving the above-mentioned puzzles, so instead of relying on their fighting prowess, the group will need to use their brains and think outside the box if necessary if they wish to succeed. Recommended for ages 14 and up.
On the subalpine planet of Lucia, there is a forest rich nation by the name of Morningstar. This nation has shared its borders with the mountainous nation Menagerie, a land ruled by dragons and beasts of myth for centuries, with an uneasy if well-built peace between the two nations. However, in recent months the Elder Dragon named Solomon by Morningstar's ruling council has begun amassing forces of mythical beasts and lower class dragons together, all the stranger as he tried to appeal to the council for a unification treaty to fight what he called "The Avenging Shadows".
Shortly after the council denied his appeal, Solomon began amassing his forces, and the Council wishes you to investigate his reasons for doing so, by force if necessary.
However, things are not so quiet in the nation itself; a town's population has been gone missing for a month, only to return with no explanation of where they went, and a brand in the shape of a misty serpent on their backs with no explanation. And they seem to have adopted some sort of ritualistic worship of vengeful, serpentine gods. Perhaps Solomon's "Avenging Shadows" are not as imaginary as the council believes?
Whatever the truth is, it is up to you to find out Solomon's reasons for his actions, and deal with them as you believe best. Perhaps the council would even open its gates to your colonists if you succeed. Just keep this in mind: Trust yourself, and little else.

'If you fall seven times, stand up eight.' The cry of the Undead.Idacra◊, a planet much like Earth in that the natives are grouped into independent nations rather than forming a unified single planetary government. Due to the lesser amount of water the nations are often engaged in small scale resource wars with each other. Regardless the planet was some what peaceful after a balance of power was established between Cor, Saota, and the Eastern powers.
was being the operative word, as the arrival of colony Gryne has upset the entire system, with some nations declaring that the outsiders must leave, others offering to let the new colonizers become citizens, and a few trying to seize advantage of the chaos to improve their position in the pecking order.
That stuff doesn't really matter to you guys though, your job is gonna be to try and establish friendly relations with those nations that are close by and willing to listen, and guard the colony as best you can from raids from hostile nations, might even get your hands on some surplus mechs. Of course there's also the possibility you could screw up negotiations and get stomped by a giant robot, but hey life isn't fun without a little risk!
Stroj is one of the few worlds both habitable and without hostile anomalies. The colony No Refunds, having landed in an area rich with resources, with its only real threats being the occasional attack by beast or ancient machine, have prospered in a land that makes sense. Even with the spectre of dessicating orbital defense guns overhead preventing them from launching anything out of the atmosphere, they have been doing very well for themselves and have no reasons to worry about anything.
Wait, did I say "have"? I should have meant "had". Because right now, they're very worried.
No Refunds has a sister colony; Some Assembly Required. Unfortunately, in ensuring No Refunds could choose where they wanted to land, Some Assembly Required didn't get to choose themselves. Some Assembly Required landed in an area barren of resources; fortunately, they also landed next to an ancient city they were able to pilfer for technology and resources. Their life was one of struggle; the city's militarized, robotic defense force protecting its ghosts with excessive firepower. But life finds ways, and the unlucky colony managed.
One month ago, contact was lost with Some Assembly Required. No reason could be ascertained - the robots never strayed too far beyond their city limits. The scout teams sent to find out what happened have not returned. Your goal is to find out what happened to Some Assembly Required.
The planetary defense network is not programmed to talk.
"Seven is here too, dressed like the concept of choosing clothes that look nice together was an arcane secret far beyond their grasp."Planet Cepa, fourth planet of the Gourmand System. A world barren and ravaged by hyperstorms hides a mysterious but exotic ecosystem underneath the brutal surface. Brimmed with life and resources unknown to modern science, it seems to be a great place to establish a colony, right?
Well, yes and no.
After you recon the underground landscape and establish Colony Wolfgang underneath the surface, a deadly hyperstorm trapped the colony for an indefinite amount of time. It is too coincidental that such storm happened to occur which is hindering the colonists and your only way out back to space. Next thing you know, a mysterious is voice telling them to reach the planet's core while collecting the mysterious warp crystals throughout the layered biomes. those allow anyone to reach the core through a teleportation ritual. Thus, it's up to our muderhobos to get to the bottom of all this, figuratively and literally.
Thanks, guys! I'll post something soon, and by soon I mean now. Thanks for the welcome.
