We Have All Been Genderflipped 2.0

"Mm..." Daydre frowns. He knows he should tread carefully, since the answer had a tendency to bother people...

"It depends on the mask, but yes.. Some.. But any good maskmaker worth their salt knows to only bind those willing, and to appease them properly..." He closes his eyes and waits for her reaction, hoping it wouldn't be too negative.

"Ah, I see. Thank you, I'm just now realizing that was a bit of an intrusive question.", said Mikaela, bowing slightly.

"Oh..." Daydre says, relief in his voice. "No, it wasn't intrusive.. My family gets that question sometimes, though the reaction is often negative.."

"Well, from the way you explain it, I see no reason for anyone to be upset. It's consensual and almost gives the previous life a second chance at what they may have failed to do with their own lives."

She seems to dour a bit when she briefly mentions failing to do something.

"I think it's the involvement of souls in general... Some people seem to think it's a defilement..?"

He notices her change in expression. "Something wrong?"

"Ah, that's understandable", she says, "When it comes to soul-related matters, things can get a bit... unsettling when given too much thought."

Mikaela looks to the distance when questioned and answers, "Nothing. Just some old memories."

"Yeah...."

Daydre looks like he wants to ask her about it, but he keeps his mouth shut for fear of prying.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to bring the mood down with my angst over old battles long since gone.", said Mikaela, dragging Daydre in with a single-armed hug.

She grins before explaining, "Maybe I'll let you know of them someday, but for now, I'm glad to have made a new friend to converse with."

Daydre's surprised at the sudden hug, but lets it happen regardless. "N-no, it's fine.. You didn't bring the mood down.."

She considers me a friend?...

Mikaela gives Daydre his personal space again. "Heh... Sorry", she says with a light blush, "I kind of get attached to anyone who listens to all my rambling."

"Oh God please don't tell me I scared him off...", she thinks to herself.

"I'm just not really used to being hugged, that's all.."He smiles reassuringly, though he's still a bit flustered.

"Well, if you need to talk to someone, I'm good at listening."

Mikaela returns the smile. "Thanks, friend. I'll amke sure to keep that in mind."

"... Soooo, what now?"

"Wait, hang on," Joanna gets out of her seat and stares at Sehkmet/Kit with wide, curious eyes, "you knew John F. Kennedy?"

"Oh yeah, weren't we going to get food?" Daydre tilts his head to the side.

"Nah, I was just saying it's close to afternoon. I think it's only a bit after ten AM, honestly.", she says, looking at the sky and scratching her head.

At the end of the path, settled on the river, sits a reasonably large building. As Emily approaches it, she looks at the two smokestacks that jut out from the rooftop and the large paddlewheel on the side of the building. Emily opens the large sliding door which marks the entrance to the building and flicks on the lights.

Emily takes in a breath of the electricity-charged air. Feels like home already."

A large console rests on the wall to the left, and the sounds of the wheel outside can be heard through the wall, a pleasant white noise filling the workshop space. Walking to the far end, she begins to descend a circular staircase which leads into the basement. Stopping on the first step, she looks over to the far corner, where a twin bed and nightstand both sit. Note to self: "make this place more livable."

Having finally grabbed some breakfast (even if it was just cereal and milk), Aquarius decided to go outside to practice magic. He hadn't been much of an outdoorsy person prior to all this, but he figured the fresh air would help him focus... plus he didn't want to almost burn down the mansion again.

He opened the door and stepped outside, tapping the staff in front of him to get a good idea of the area in front of him. He stopped, however, when he heard Daydre and Mikaela talking.

" Oh, hi there," Aquarius said. " Didn't expect to find you guys here..."

"Oh, hey there.." Daydre almost raises his hand to wave, before remembering and putting it down again.

"Ah, hello there."

Erika just about falls upon her back-equivalent, caught off-guard with the reactions that ensued within the library, accompanied by a hiss before the thud. "...well, that was embarrassing for one of me to fall, and two... That much of a gap in knowledge? Looks like no time to lose, everyone." She replies, proceeding to carefully try to get upright once more.

Joanna takes a step towards Erika to go and help her up, but before she takes another one, she reasons that Erika has the motor coordination to help herself up and straightens herself.

"So, should a few of us head out and get the movie? Hell, we could check the theatre room to see what exactly we're dealing with in terms of equipment, unless someone here knows what we got up there already."

The day progresses, morning light giving way to hot daytime, the heat dragging out and simultaneously speeding up the day in that strange way that only a summer day truly can.

The afternoon seems to go on and on, stalled by the lack of activity around and made lethargic by the calm air and heat, but the air is permeated by an unusual stillness in the air as clouds gather along the horizon...

Mikaela takes note of what she perceives as the shift to afternoontime or being near to the afternoon. "Well", she says, stretching a bit and looking at Daydre, "I'd say it looks like a good time to go get lunch."

There's a subtle giddiness to her demeanor when she says "lunch".

Erika hesitated at Joanna's request with some people heading out, cringing at the thought of having to go out herself as she finally is back upright. "...if it isn't too much, I'd probably be best to stay away from the cities..." She mentions, looking uncomfortable. It's probably rather clear why Erika isn't too keen about wanting to depart from the mansion, given how she looked at the serpentine tail of hers.

"Thanks for the cooking, Tamaki!" Eisen was pretty full now, having eaten a rather big breakfast

As the heat outside grew, Eisen had headed back inside the Mansion, not wanting to stay all that hot sun.

She was back of course, on the ground floor couch, doing some programming stuff on her laptop, but trying to notice others.
